At the age of six, I knew that I wanted to find a career where I would be working with kids for the rest of my life. This was a time when my oldest niece was born and was diagnosed with a mild case of down syndrome. When she was an infant, my mother and I would babysit her and I would care for her as if I was a mother figure in her life. I consistently fed her bottles, changed her diapers, rocked her to sleep, and taught her how to read as she grew older. Whatever she needed, I would provide as much as I could. When I transitioned into high school, I found out exactly which career path I wanted to take. I want to go into neonatal nursing because I am very fond of infants. I feel as though I have experience with children who are born with defects…

I want to go into the pediatric nursing field for many reasons. I really enjoy working with kids especially little children. Volunteering at a saturday school with 4-5 year olds I became very good and comforting a child when sad or lonely. I work well with little children and enjoy being with them. I also want to go into nursing because every time I go to the doctors I always feel as if the nurses there do not enjoy their job. Which is probably wrong but they just always seem so monotone. I am half japanese so every summer when I go over to Japan and need to go to the doctors, the nurses there are always smiling trying to ease the tension between the child and the nurse themselves and that is the kind of nurse I want to be. I want to be a nurse like that in America to show people how much of a difference it could make and could lead to less fear of the doctors office. I see…
Ever since I was around 10 years old, I have been interested in the healthcare section. This is because I love the rewarding and fulfilling feeling I get when I help people in need. And being a nurse will encourages me to develop sets of skills that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have an achievement-oriented personality and strong work ethics for the things that I am passion about. I therefore seek challenges that will help me build on my expertise and vocational skills.…
Nursing is a very challenging and interesting career which involves hard work and commitment. Since I started studying Health and Social Care, my interest in Nursing has grown. This has inspired me to study Child Nursing as I believe that my studies can be practically applied. I am also keen to make a difference to people’s lives, whether caring for children or supporting parents. My interest in and appreciation for this career has been encouraged by family members who work in the NHS, and who have made me aware of its less glamorous side, as well as the positivity of caring for others.…

I have had the opportunity to receive great encouragement from people in my life. This has led me to where I am today, which is the desire to become a medical assistant in a children’s hospital. Ever since I was a young girl, I have been interested in anything that is medical related. This goes from playing doctor to my dolls and friends, to becoming a certified nurse’s aide (CNA) at the age of 18. My mother is working towards her goal of becoming a registered nurse after overcoming breast cancer. I also have a cousin and a couple of aunts who are nurses whom I look to whenever I get frustrated with achieving my goal. When taking…
I believe one of the hardest aspects of being a nurse is having to deal with a patient’s death, especially if it’s unexpected, and you have grown close to them. Although I am not a nurse, I do know the pain of losing someone dear to me, just as every individual does. As a new nurse, of course, it would be difficult to handle a sudden and bloody patient death. As of right now I don’t know how I would handle it because I have not had to face such a situation. Dealing with a patient’s sudden death would be really emotional, but I would try to move on from the experience. I usually try to make light of a depressing situation. When I have issues or something on my mind, I talk to friends about how I am feeling. I think a way to get pass through…
As we grow old with the world every day, we mature as well. In this process of growing old we begin to take more responsibilities and we begin to understand the world a little better everyday but that does not mean we grow to be sure of everything. In our everyday lives there are moments where we have hesitated to make a decision because we are unsure of what action should be taken. There has been many situations and moments where I have had difficulties in making decisions but there is one thing I have always been sure of in my life since I was a child and that is to become a nurse. Becoming a nurse has always been my long term goal and I have specially been inspired by my mother. Growing up in poverty, I have seen my mother’s hard work to…

For me, choosing to be a part of the nursing profession was not as easy as it may have been for others. I am not the daughter or granddaughter of a nurse. My mother was a single unemployed woman for most of my life. I knew I wanted to walk my own path, but I wasn’t certain what that was. When I entered the workforce, I didn’t follow my dreams; I simply followed familiar steps. For many years I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, but responsibilities held me back. I realized while I may be very good at what I was doing, I was not following my heart.…
As a child, I decided to pursue an aspiration that began with a child’s doctors kit. I wanted to have a career as a doctor. I was on board with being dressed as the part; wearing scrubs, and always carrying a stethoscope. Looking back, today I would consider myself wise beyond my years. I wanted to help others feel better, or assist them in any way I could. A main characteristic of mine was being analytical. I am an equally observant and curious person. I desire to find out how the world works, or find solutions to problems. I consistently had questions about my environment. In pre-school, I got along with everyone in my classroom. I loved going to school for the fact that I was always able to learn something new. I’ve always been drawn to…
My future plans are strategic. I will transfer to Grand Canyon University to complete my BSN in nursing because it will ensure that I finish my degree faster than any other online school I’ve investigated. Getting my BSN in nursing will put me one step closer to my career goal of working at home as a Health Coach. With the assistance of modern technology today, my dream job already exists and with technology moving forward faster than ever before, by the time I achieve my goal of health coaching, I’m hoping that advancements may be in place to allow more intimate interaction with patients than just via phone or email. By working hard, I hope to have my BSN completed by next year and be on my way to my career goal as a Health Coach.…
Nursing is a second career for me. It is one I have approached gradually, over a long period of time. I might have chosen it as a first career if I had been a better student when I entered college, or had people in my life who were involved in healthcare careers when I was growing up. As it was, I had a longstanding interest in health and the human body, but nursing seemed very foreign, and the idea of touching strangers made me uncomfortable.…
