and junior years, it’s loudly screamed that I was experiencing difficulty. These difficulties uprooted when I noticed my mother was experiencing obstacles as the standard routine of being a single parent with no support took its toll. Money became one of the many scarce resources. I decided as a high school student to take matters into my own hands. Picking up multiple full- time jobs throughout the course of my sophomore and junior year to help with bills and other financial obligations.
As a result the amount of time I slept, spent studying, and with my family was limited. My grades, test scores, and GPA took a downfall. In hope, my effort had relieved one of the many stresses that I knew kept her up at night. Understanding that I've cracked underneath the pressure and missed my opportunity to grow and reached my full potential. I now appear as a less than perfect student. I'm furthering my education not only to pursue my passions along with finding the best career field for me, but to grow as an individual. In hope by receiving a second chance will allow me the opportunity to be that more than a perfect student. Being confused and consumed in the chaos of my challenges made me forget what has been instilled in me since before I could remember “school comes first, no matter what”. My actions made me more aware of where my future was heading, which so many teens fatally traveled before me. Coming in as an exploring student sends a message that I’ve yet to announce, admit , or acknowledge which path to take in order to pursue my passions. Which are: traveling the world, aid people in need , while learning something new every
day. Attending The University of Northern Colorado allows me to exceed the expectations. Giving me not only the opportunity, but the resources to do so. Nevertheless, UNC has a wide range of majors and minors in which I can explore, making it untroublesome finding the best career field for me. This decision doesn't limit my opportunity, but only broadens my horizons, experiences, and all the success I'll have in the future. Since entering high school I've grown up , made mistakes, and set goals. I've learned along this journey that life has a way of teaching you maturity, flexibility, and adaptability. Before, entering this next chapter of my life I will seek out answers , pursue my intellectual goals, while honoring my family. My past has taught me that you're the only one that poses the powers to make , predict , change , and determine your future. After, viewing my application and reading this essay I hope you not only consider my potential, my work ethic , and my determination, but my promise to fulfill the promise of my future.
