College Admissions Essay: My Passion For The Arts
Throughout my life I have pushed myself to try new things. Whether it be participating in different sports, partaking in a variety of school courses, or coming up with any sort of new activity just to keep me busy, I found myself to have created a cast, or a mold of the type of person I am and the type of things that I can always fall back on for enjoyment. My desires for experimentation may bring me temporary joys yet I always find myself stuck to a few core activities which revolve around my passion for the arts. I am able to combine this love and experiment with styles and mediums of art and while sometimes the end product belongs in the landfill, other times I may stumble upon something truly beautiful that will further my abilities to branch out and try new things. …show more content…
For someone who enjoys experimenting and is always onto new things, it may be surprising that I am quite shy and has been fairly seclusive my entire life. As I grew older and up to this day, I am still faced with being shy but now to the extent where I am constantly battling my social anxiety in this quickly emerging world of social interaction on a level unseen before. I find my thoughts constantly suppressed within my mind, too deep to reach into unless I get handed a pencil and paper, or a mouse and a computer, or a paintbrush and canvas. My art is my voice, although it may be clouded with all the different approaches I take in my creations, it’s all still there. Partaking in the creative process with any shape or form of art is, and always has been my escape, my sanctuary, my passion in life and thus it is what I find myself doing for not only my enjoyment, but also to evoke similar emotions unto

Many artists enjoy exploring new ideas and concepts and creating them. Most artists think of themselves in one or more of the roles when approaching their art work. First, artists believe they are helping people to see the world in new and innovative ways. Secondly, they believe they are making a visual record of places, people, and events of their time and place (Sayre, 2009). Third, they are making functional objects and buildings more pleasurable and giving them meaning, and finally, artists believe they are giving form to immaterial ideas and things (Sayre, 2009).…

For me as an artist, I prefer to create visual pieces or 2-D, mainly by drawing or painting. However, one of my biggest strengths in being an artist and a person in general is my creativity. Being a creative person makes me a good artist. I use the ideas I get and then I am able to turn them into works of art. Everytime I sit down ready to do something with art, I brainstorm ideas of what to do and my mind just starts to race. No matter what situation I am put in, I am positive I can be creative in an unique way to create something wonderful. However, like any other person, I have my weaknesses as an artist. From time to time I am given the task to create something three dimensional. Ever since I was little I have struggled with creating something 3-D. I prefer to use a pencil to draw rather than to use my hands to sculpt something. With anything I do, I will always run into things that I struggle with along with the things that I can excel at. The past semester in Art II has made me a better artist. From learning different techniques to just creating art in general, I have been able to expand my skills as an artists. In the next years I hope to continue to use these skills and to become a better artist as well as a better…

Throughout the course of my junior year, I have been challenged to be the best artist of my ability. As a graphic designer, I have learned to view things in a different light and learned to express my creativity. Although I am still learning new things everyday about how to become a better artist, I have improved tremendously in every way ranging from the thought process all the way to finalizing each project, and I think that as the days go by I will continue to do well in my high school graphic design career, but in continuing my education in this major and working in a field closely related to it. I have produced at least 5 projects that reflect my passion for graphic design including the New York World’s Fair, currency recreation, and the handmade film poster from the first semester of my junior year and from the second half up until my most recent project, a book jacket, and an organic drink package design.…

There is also a lot of suffering, crashes of motivation and it is exactly during these periods of time that I draw upon my artistic side. Through art I travel to a different dimension. I pass from a place where time is everything; swimming paces, cycling speeds, running times etc. and on to a place where time is meaningless; it either passes slowly or rapid, and it is diffenct. Sometimes after dinner I decide to sketch, and soon it turns into a painting, and eventually my mother enters to my art studio, suddenly I realize it is 3;00 a.m. and I am still painting. That is the power of art it allows you to wander. It awakens my creative side and challenges me to put in the canvas all those weird, surrealist scenes that cross my mind at night. And due to these random imaginative sparks I’ve always carry a notepad with me sketching objects, writing phrases or anything that inspires me daily which helps me expand my imagination. The canvas has become a diary for me. This passion for art has always kept my mind open to new…

“An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one.” This was once said by sociologist Charles Horton Cooley. That may be true, but what does it take to become one? How do artists find their passion? Elizabeth McKemy is currently a skilled art teacher at the Wilson High School. Art is not only her career, but it’s her passion, too. This has not always been her path, though. Like many people, McKemy at, one point, did not know what she wanted to do with her life.…

Throughout Charles Dickens Tale of Two cities, a few different themes can be easily spotted. The biggest prevailing theme in the book would have to be the 99% vs the 1% elite. This is when the poor oppressed people have had enough of the wealthy elite controlling them, and they ban together and rise up against it. In desperate times like revolution, you often find two or more unexpected partners, or allies. It is almost as if the revolution and uprising causes some bond between the people revolting, giving them extreme focus and teamwork. In normal circumstances, you might expect a woman like Madame’ Defarge to be a quiet mellow woman, but get her in a revolution and she turns in to a fiery death machine. Themes like these can still be spotted today, and most of the same rules apply.…

When most people think of character they often associate it with the idea of having to do the right thing. I on the other hand believe character is more than just doing what is morally righteous. Our experiences, obstacles and most importantly, passion define our true character. Passion establishes the difference between obligation or choice and giving up or persevering. Our actions result from the passion we choose to dedicate towards different aspects of our lives including school, work, extracurricular activities and community service. Everyone values these aspects differently and that is what allows for each of us to have our own unique character. I believe people have a more powerful influence when they have a true sense of passion for what they are doing.…

I have been doing art for as long as I can remember. From the time I was in Kindergarden to my senior year in high school I've been doing arts and crafts. I've had art teachers, vacation bible school leaders, and my parents teaching me how to create things my whole life. I usually only recieve art instruction when I sign up for art courses. I've completed all sorts of art projects including paintings, clay, abstract, landscapes and all other types of activities. I had two very good art instructors in high school and they were very critical and rewarding and that probably is why I enjoy art as much as I do. I've had a very broad range of activities from drawing with charcoal and pencils to painting and sculptings. For the most part most of my art activities weren't holiday centered they were more of your own imagination and idea's. All of my art projects were graded on pretty specific grading rubrics. It measured how much you worked on it and made sure that you followed all of the necessary guidelines. I have had a great experience with art in my past and I'm excited to learn more about it. My strengths in art I would say would be that I really enjoy drawing and shading pictures of things and my weakness is that I don't really know that much about the history of art and where it all came from. Art relates to society very much so. Advertising is used everywhere you go and you wouldn't have that without art skills. I am very excited to learn more about the history of art and sharpen up my old art…

In my quest for passion, I often bite off more than I can chew. I want to create, whether it be photographs, art, or music. The problem is, I never stick to one hobby long enough to master any set of skills. I'll be honest, the coding class I recently took threw another wrench in my quest. I enjoyed that class so much it made me rethink my career path and my degree plan. I have recorded multiple songs, finished dozens of art pieces, and taken thousands of photographs in the past ten years.…

Taking higher level courses in math and science challenges my critical thinking to be able to apply concepts learned in the real world. My curiosity to learn more about physical sciences and math keeps me attentive to understand the complexity of how things work. Though I value academics, I hold another interest in the visual and culinary arts. Since art can take on many forms, I find pleasure in drawing as well as creating graphic and ceramic art. I also enjoy creating edible forms of art by cooking and baking.…

Art is a curse that will grab you once you're hooked and hold on to you for the rest of your life. Art doesn't hold people’s hands through the rough patches, of course; she makes them work for it. If someone thinks that art is easy then they have another thing coming, because art doesn't kiss on the first date. Art had forced me to confront the emotions that I was not ready to confront. I have met jealousy through other artists’ artworks and I know frustration through mine. I become frustrated and blinded by my work when I am unable complete it because I can’t translate the image in my head to the paper on my easel, and there is so much that I wanted to say through my art, but my hands can’t seem to work right.…

By delving into new media, I realized the process of creating art was just as therapeutic as the work itself. In printmaking, for example, I designed a silkscreen self-portrait which illustrated my mental disorder. The first print was the most emotionally difficult to make because I struggled confronting my disorder. However, the more copies I created, the more I could accept the face looking back at me. Because of this process, I could present the piece in my classroom critique. Additionally, my ceramic pieces each had a definite conceptual backbone, but working the clay with my hands promoted a sense of wellness and satisfaction that I had not yet achieved with another medium. The combined therapeutic capability of art itself and the process of making art are now tools of healing and self-expression that I can use as an artist and in my future…

Everyone has some passion or goal that they dedicate their time to. For some people, it is a sport, career, or art. One of my passions is music. I play the euphonium in the band, and I plan on playing for all four years of high school. Being in the band is something that I always enjoy and I like to look for any opportunities that I can take to improve my playing and band experience. Most of the time, these opportunities are correcting my mistakes and applying Mr. Soto's comments to my playing so that I can do my part to make the band sound great. Other times, these opportunities are helping out around the band room or helping my fellow musicians recognize their mistakes and improve their playing.…

So I researched in myself what art means to me. Since art deals with paintings, music, dance, architecture, drama, sculpture and literature, I can consider myself as an artist. Why? ‘Cause I’ve been singing in the choir of our church, I love doing and making artworks even if I’m not that good, I enjoy dancing, and so on and so forth.…
