Everyone was excited for me to “officially be an adult” and “start my own adventure.” However, I find this quite false. I’m only eighteen, which is still just a teenager, and must have parents to sign for lots. Also, for all my financial aid, I still depend on my parents and other adults who get to decide what I can and cannot do. I expected to be a lot freer, and now I feel like I got put from one small box, into a slightly bigger one. It seems that I won’t be accepted as an “actual” adult until I’m out of college, on my own, with a paying job. Hurrah for another four
