Initially, I had a little nervousness in general when it came to going to college, but I found comfort specifically in the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts because of its foundation encouraging curiosity and opportunity.
The first aspect of this college that caught my eye was the fact that it has a pre-health advisor. I aspire to one day become an obstetrician/gynecologist. Being far from home, it is helpful to know that there is going to be someone on campus with the resources to help me get to where I want to be and someone who relates to my current situation. Going into a medical profession is a long journey in its own right, and having just graduated high school and entering the “real world” for the first time does not make it any easier. This advisor, along with the opportunity hub and career center, would keep me on the right
track.
Moreover, I have always dreamt of one day receiving the opportunity to help in an underdeveloped country, this is part of the reason why I decided to major in biology. Both the diverse range of study abroad and internship programs bring this dream a little closer. This school has various classes as well; even though my primary focus is getting into medical school, I would love to take classes from screenwriting to Spanish in order to grasp a more in depth knowledge in my other interests.
This school comes along with so many opportunities and resources to guide its students in the right direction. I want to be as well-rounded as I can be because I feel that a cultured person is valuable in every field. If I attend the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, the first “puzzle pieces” of my career will begin to fall into place, ultimately leading to a successful future.
