College Application
Learning stimulates the mind and opens doors to a more vibrant and fulfilling life. In my opinion, learning is the foundation to leadership, service, and global awareness. I strive to have an open mind and take in as much as I can on a daily basis. This has led to me realizing my passions in life, passions that have led me to participate in many service programs and to acquiring a leading role in an organization in the special needs community. Also, recently I went to a global awareness seminar at a local college and have decided to go on a mission trip this summer to Zambia if at all possible. I have become actively involved in all of these things that are beneficial for me and, more importantly, others because I love to learn. I love to learn about the world, about politics, about my faith, about people, about anything I can wrap my head around.
An important aspect of learning is that it helps build strong and valuable relationships. Through learning, we expand our awareness, reach self-fulfillment, and construct a multidimensional life for ourselves that is truly exciting. With all of these things within our reach, we cannot help but to pass on this enriching life to the people around us. I can only hope that my passion for learning and for life will inspire others to open their minds and crave learning the way I do. When I say learning, I am talking about going beyond the classroom, which is extremely important to me as well. But there is so much out there in the world to observe and take in. It is naïve to believe that the classroom is the only environment capable of producing a learning atmosphere.
I made the decision to apply to FSU because I can see that learning is crucial in the lives of its students. There are many opportunities to take learning out of the classroom. Wherever I go, I know I want to get involved with groups, organizations, and clubs on campus. This can only happen if I am in a stimulating environment and constantly challenging myself.

Another reason I applied to UCF is "tradition". Ever since my family moved here from New York in 1995 I have witnessed firsthand the growth and transformation of UCF. Driving in the car down University Blvd with the gold and black banners hanging from the lampposts alerts you that you are entering the home of the Knights. From the alumni with their car flags to the students walking around the local malls in their UCF apparel, everyone is proud to be a "Knight". One of the biggest traditions at UCF is called the "Spirit Splash". This is a tradition that takes place during homecoming week and is one of the only times during the year that students, alumni, teachers, local residents and even pets can wade in the reflection pond on campus. Events like these "unite" a large university and make it seem like we all share something together.…

I am a graduate from Glen Oaks Community College and I would love to continue my education with Glen Oaks and their Nursing Program. I am a very athletic person, therefore in my free time my activities include running, playing sports, coaching and being involved with my family. Working two jobs, one being a Nursing Assistant and Unit Technician at The Community Health Center of Branch County and the other doing in home care for an elderly patient, does make it difficult to find free time. With what little free time I do have I enjoy spending it with my family as they are very important to me. I try to make it a routine to visit with my grandmas to have lunch with them and to drive them around where ever is needed due to the fact that they both cannot drive. I am currently training to run a marathon in May. During softball season, I volunteer with the coaching staff at the Coldwater High School. My greatest satisfaction so far in life, is the fact that I am one of few to have graduated from a college with a degree within my family. I am proud to say that I have paid for me education with my hard work. I hope with the help of Glen Oaks Community College I can obtain a new satisfaction of becoming a nurse. It would be my dream come true.…

My love and interest in Houston's sports teams has given me a means of identifying with my beloved hometown. Until recently I had no idea how to connect myself with the city and the millions of other Houstonians that inhabited Houston. I then discovered the cities sports teams the Texans, Rockets, and Astros which many of the cities locals love and support endlessly. Ever since discovering these teams I have become a ferocious supporters of them win or lose. I support them no matter without any conditions I do it because I want to and because I love them. Whether I am cheering from my couch at home, a booth at a restaurant, or in the stands with other loyal followers I'm not shy of showing that the team on the field or the court are my teams. My loyalty to them has no end no matter if they squeaked past an opponent or got utterly humiliated I openly will continue through show my love and passion for something I care about. This same passion that I have shown cheering and applauding my team I have transferred into other endeavors I have undertaken. I have turned this passion of sports and Houston’s sports teams into passion for my school work and now the college application process. I have become more passionate about my school work making me more motivated to not just improve my letter grade but also to gain knowledge for the sake of gaining knowledge. My openness to show my support for something that I feel very strongly about I feel has also helped prepare me for my college experience. In college I expect that their will always be other students and professors to look for me to defend my stance.…

For my post-secondary schooling, I have been accepted into, and planning to attend, Georgia Southern University. I chose this school for many different reasons, and going to orientation expanded those reasons. Georgia Southern offers many great opportunities for what I want to do in life. The campus is about an hour away from where I currently live, so it is close to home but not too close to home. The professors and staff are friendly and want to see the students succeed and are always ready to help. I could go on and on about why I chose this school, but I believe…

For me, learning is the foundation for education. And without education there is just nothing to rely on. There is not a day that passes that I do not learn something new. Surrounding myself around a diverse group of people has a lot to do with as well. Over the past years, I have learned to value my diversity and how it affects my everyday life. For example, since enrolling in Teacher Cadet, I have learned so much about myself and peers that I probably would have never known until now. I’ve also learned priceless values that helped shape me into the person I am today. In most cases, we do not consider that learning is necessary to move forward in life. Honestly, learning is my passion as a young adult. There is so much in the world that I am not aware of. So when someone enlightens me on unfamiliar topics, I immediately become intrigued and interested. In actuality, I enjoy learning new things from leaders and teachers who want to see me succeed in life.…
