College Coupons
Between tuition and everyday expenses, most college students and families would agree that money seems to disappear faster than it appears. As a college student, anytime I am offered something free or discounted I jump on the opportunity. But it seems that the things I want or need are never discounted. Even though it may be easier to pay full price, the few extra minuets put into finding coupons could save thousands a year. Coupons are available everywhere, from newspapers, emails, phone apps, and online ads. They just require time to find, and you must be willing to find them.
Many colleges have newspapers available for students to look through and even use. This is a great resource for local grocery store purchases. As a typical young adult, I use my phone a lot and look at my daily notifications. Many companies will give you a good coupon for just downloading their app. Apps can also notify you of current sales and new promo codes to use on your next purchase. I have received free minis, and other free things from Chick-Fil-A. At the same time, I carry Michael Kors products, which represent a particular status. I have a $400 dollar purse that I only paid $100. I even have a Michael Kors cell case, but no-one can tell it is a Michal Kors, but it make me feel a certain way. Coupons are able to be used on any item that matches, but whether the item is on sale or not makes the difference of the savings that may be achieved. There is a website available for shoppers where all of the leg work is already done. By clicking on the store they would like to shop at and an advertisement with currently available coupons to match the sale items…

If you look at the dates on these receipts you will see that I have been saving money by clipping coupons for years. The coupon savings on these 4 receipts is $79.77. Here is an example of $5 worth of coupons. The next two sheets equal $20 in coupons. As you can see just a few coupons add up to big savings. You can receive even greater savings by combining items already on sale with coupons. Here is an example of breakfast cereal on sale 6 or $10. That is $1.67 per box. When you have a coupon for $1.00 off 3 boxes, the cereal is $1.50 per box and if you have two coupons for $1.00 of your cereal would be $1.33 per box. Here are some examples of retail store coupons. At the very least, even if you only chose to clip the occasional coupon, you would save $20 to $100 a year. This would buy a few pairs of scrubs for Amy, a few pairs of flip flops for Lynette, a deer tag or two for Mike and some trash bags for Becky.…

Some people feel that coupons only save a fractional amount of money which won’t matter anyway in the long run. Another thing people feel is that stores know you’ll use the coupons, so they increase prices even more. This is also false. Coupons are not that commonly used and it would only hurt the company to increase prices and risk less people buying the product. You may not think that paying ten or twenty rupees less is a big deal, but remember that…
