Expectations and college go hand in hand. Colleges have ridiculous expectations for us as students and students have this expectation that in college they will find their lives purpose, which is equally as ridiculous. My expectation for college as the rest of the student population is to find what I am meant to do and become a master at that particular thing. As of right now I want to become a teacher so my expectation for college is for it to educate me on becoming the best teacher possible. I want to leave college with the skills that allow me to hold the attention of a class, skills that give me the ability to teach an effective lesson, and those that give me the ability to make a different in someone’s future.
My expectation for college revolves around gaining the knowledge behind being an effective teacher. I believe this would include holding the attention of a class because from experience if a teacher can’t hold the attention of the class then nobody will listen and in return the material in which they are teaching is not comprehended by the students. Also, I want to have the skills that give me the ability to teach an effective lesson. Although holding the class attention is a part of an effective lesson I know it is not that simple and there are many parts. I want to learn all the tricks in the book that allow me teach a lesson that all my students comprehend and retain. Additionally, another part of that expectation in becoming an effective teacher includes learning the skill that gives me the ability to make a different in someone’s future. I do not want to be a teacher that is just a stop on my future student’s education journey. I want them to take away something from my class that will help them in the future, something that will either make their journey a little easier or change their path.
In conclusion, I want to leave college with the skills needed to be a great teacher. Some that I specifically wish to achieve are gaining skills
