College Education Is Important
College Education Is Important

Ever since I started kindergarten, education has been very important in my family. Although I was learning simple things, such as my numbers, letters, and learning how to read, it was still important. Now that I am older and am in college, I am realizing how important even the little things about education are. Without a foundation in education, I would not be where I am today. In order to be successful, education has to be very important in a person’s life. Since the day that I was born, my family has been preaching to me how important an education is. I did not believe them at first, but now, I definitely believe them. First came elementary. Second came middle school. Finally, high school hit. High school was a lot tougher than elementary and middle school. Then, on the final day of high school, as I was walking across the stage to receive my diploma, it hit me “like a ton of bricks.” I would be starting college soon. I did not know what to think. College seemed like a scary thing to me at that point. Here I was just graduating from high school and now I had to continue on to get more education? I thought that what I had already gone through for those previous fourteen years was enough, but apparently it was not. My whole family then started preaching to me about going to college. They would say things like “getting a college education is very important” and “obtaining a college degree is a wonderfully fulfilling experience.” They would also say that “most jobs today require you to have a college degree” and “if you want to be successful in life, you need to have a college degree.” That got me to thinking more. I definitely wanted to be successful in my life. I did not want to be someone that did not have a college education and that could not find a job because I did not have an education. From that moment on, I decided that I wanted to go to college and be successful.

Most people today do not think that a college education is important. They believe that once they are done with high school, they are done with learning. That is not the case. No one is ever done learning. When a person goes on to college, they are furthering their education because they want to be more successful. After obtaining a college education, a person should have that feeling of personal satisfaction and accomplishment. Getting a college education and degree is not an easy thing for some people to do. Nevertheless, college education is becoming more and more important than it has been in the past. Obtaining the degree requires a certain level of commitment, perseverance, and patience. Most people put in a lot of hard work and effort which greatly contributes to their success. A college education is the best way to help someone get a sense of personal satisfaction, acquire good job opportunities, and maintain financially stability. In all, a college education is just basically very important.

When I graduated high school in 2013 I attended a community college in Pennsylvania for a semester. My thought on college in high school were “I don’t really want to continue my education for another four years”. That was until my high school counselor called me to her office seeing that I didn’t apply for schools. She explained that I wouldn’t be able to get a good job or ever own a house without a college degree, so that fear pushed me into continuing my education. My parents were the same way they also told me “most jobs would hire a college graduate over a high school graduate”. That was the final push towards the path of…

Growing up in a financially disadvantaged family, it became obvious to me at an early age that I needed to go to college if I did not want my children to endure the struggles I did during my childhood. Education is important to me because it is the key to freedom, key to having a better world, and the key to enlightening oneself. Education brings freedom to any individual mind who is trap from the cruel circumstances a person faces. The best example is Fredrick Douglas who used education to escape slavery. Education can make the world a better place to live in, which it can bring an end to poverty, end to racism, end of wars, and end life threating diseases. Education is the most important part of my life. Couple reasons why I attend college it’s to better myself, get a higher paying job and get away from home. First, not going to college was not an option for me; furthermore, both of my parents attended college and graduated college and they have the jobs they always wanted. They always encouraged me to get a higher education and I agree. When I see people that struggle with finances because they didn’t go to college; certainly, it made me want to go and get my bachelor’s degree even faster. Second, I do not want to live my life, paycheck to paycheck, and worrying about whether or not I am going to have enough money to pay to keep a roof over my head. The reason for going to college is that I want to have a better life. Finally, college is vital to how far you can go. If I would settle only for a High school diploma or less, I would not go as far as I want to go; I will keep hopping from one dead-end job to another; for instance, my friend who have worked everywhere and is never happy because of the hard work she has to do and little money she gets. I would want to be more as a college graduate who is at home relaxing in my huge house, watching my sixty-four inch Plasma TV in High Definition. I believe that college will lead me to a life of fulfillment and realized dreams. No one ever regretted going to college, I wish I could say the same for the person who…

Throughout elementary and middle school, I always thought education wasn’t as important as other things such as the sports I played, hanging out with friends and doing things that I enjoyed. I would often find myself blowing off homework and doing it last minute or not even doing it all. I’ve changed quite a bit since those days, but it took me some time to realize that what I was doing wasn’t any good for me. I believe that at some point in your life, you have to realize that education is everything and you won’t go anywhere in life without it.…

Aside from the inspiring role models I gratefully have and the never-ending encouragement my family provides me with, my personal motivation for proceeding onto college are countless. Some of the larger reasons why I choose to go to college are because I see that college offers a variety of opportunities that is not offered anywhere else. For instance, college offers courses that will further one’s experience in a certain field, preparing one for the real world before one can successfully thrive in the fast-paced and volatile world. Not only will I obtain and expose myself to “the tough stuff,” which includes countless demanding college courses, I am also building a stronger profile of myself with the challenging classes I will partake for professionals who will review my resume when I apply for a job or go to a job interview (Graff 225). Going to college will allow me to be an independent individual because it will be essential for me learn how to make a living on my own. I will no longer have my parents or siblings to help and look out for me anymore. I am required to take control of my life and basically learn how to survive on my own. My college education will be highly beneficial because obtaining a college degree and/or a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) will open more doors for me considering that the fact that some employers “do not even interview applicants who do not hold a B.A.” (Graff 233). Therefore, I will have an advantage over those who do not have a B.A. Many may argue that there have been successful stories that did not involve a college education, however the chances of that are very low. Furthermore, my desire to be influenced by a new and diverse group of people leads me to go to college. I wish to be influenced by more and intelligent people who hold perceptions contrary to mine, so I can…

I believe that education is very important, and a blessing to have in life. Growing up, I was always told by my family to study hard. I did not know what they truly meant until I was in grade twelve. I realized that studying hard will help to have good grades. Having good grades will lead me to attending a university. I was very stressed in my last year of high school because I wanted to prove to my family that I am smarter than what they believed. I did not receive honor roll when I was in grade nine, ten or eleven. Grade twelve was the year where I finally knew how to study. Funny, right? Throughout my years in high school, I struggled to study because I did not know how to, and I did not have any motivation. My goal in grade twelve was to…

The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. Neither of my parents had an opportunity to attend college, and faced many struggles in their personal and professional lives because of this. They made a commitment early in my life to do everything within their power to instill in me a love of learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication. Because of their love and sacrifice over the years, I have been able to devote the time and energy necessary to academic accomplishment even though money has always been tight. Additionally, I have also been active in my school and community outside of the classroom, serving as an officer and team captain in several campus programs.…
