In order to bring the continuity in paragraph, Gorrell (1967:123) considers the topic sentence as the main key sentence which will help writers in developing paragraphs. The first is entitled “College-level L2 English writing competence: conjunction and errors” by Mo Li. The study is conducted to examine the fluency, complexity and accuracy of college-level L2 English writing, analyze the errors produced by subjects, and uncover the features of the writing. The research focused on conjunction and error of conjunction which are used in cohesion and coherence as the main data which is analyzed. To find out the data, the researcher will use writing test which should be wrote only 200 words in one paragraph in one topic ‘My Hometown’. The result from the research is divided into three aspects: a) there is a higher frequency of fluency, complexity and accuracy in writing subjects although there is an insignificant percentage for the correct clause of two table MSTTRs and as the result of the test, most of the writing products spoken writing rather than conventional academic writing. b) The most errors that shown in the research is in verb forms because the learners who has been research are native languages that do not have concept of English. c) and the last aspect is conjunctive items and adverbs. The study concerned with examining of the relationship between EFL learner’s locus of control and their L2 reading and writing achievement.
