Champeta is also a rhythm listened in the Caribbean Coast of Colombia, its roots come from Jamaica, Congo, Haiti and French Antilles; it is a mixture of reggae and African rhythms that infect the population to dance anywhere, even on the streets. As well, contemporary music is commercial in the country; salsa, rock, pop and urban music fills the country.
On the other hand, the terrain is full of variety. Mountains, valleys, rivers, jungle, desert, beaches and plains are found in the country. After a short road-trip from any city the weather can change drastically because of its diversified geography; at the same time, making a comparison with Texas, the second largest state in the United States, Colombia is one and a half the size of Texas, which means that in this territory, the land can change tremendously.
Referring the to mountains, Colombia contains the Andes Cordillera which is divided in three branches.
First one is the West Andes, the smallest one and important cities like Cali, Valle del Cauca and Pasto are located in this branch. Second one is the Central Andes, the highest one with cities like Medellin, Bogota, Huila and Manizales. And third one is East Andes, the widest of the three branches; on the east side of this range, there are plains and cattle in this area are fruitful.
To the South is the Amazona zone. The Amazon river is in the region and also shared by a total of 5 countries. This river is the longest in South America and second-longest river in the world. Amazona is full of tree and it has a broad variety of animals, Ecosystem and bio-diversity is wide.
Also, Colombia has a coastal area; it is the only country that has two oceans, the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. Beaches, coral reefs, sea grass, man groves and statuaries give life to many species of fauna and flora.
Finally, people in Colombia, beyond being a mixture of Afro, Indian and Spanish, we are a mixture of tenacious people that work hard every day like farmers that wake up every day to milk the cows and take care of sowing. These ones are in charge of bring food to each Colombian
kitchen.
And Colombia is not only beautiful for its territory, also it is beautiful for its people, because Colombians that live in the country give it life. Our nation is very rich and our ancestors left us a legacy to be proud of. Tourists that travel across the country give faith of that and they know how warmth feel from Colombian people.
Costeños, population that live in the coast, are the happiest and friendly. Its folk dances are energic and seafood is delightful. Indians live in mountains with nature and they defend Mother Earth. People from big cities of the center of the country, are traditionalist with a quiet life, they care more about family union.
In conclusion, Colombia is an excellent choice as a touristic place, and not only that, people wish to stay, because living as a Colombian is a privileged. Terrain, People and warmth is something found in every place. Colombia make you feel at home that’s why the only risk is wanting to stay.
