Color and Autumn
Self-study task 3
Option 2 These are my variant of analyze I hope I revealed the main idea of these poems, enjoy.
1. A. Pushkin. Autumn.
Autumn for Pushkin is the time to rebirth while everything around is dying(природы пышной увяданье) and saying its goodbyes. The main associations are the golden-red leafs on the trees falling to the earth. Also in this verse Pushkin is comparing autumn with the others times of year and here I consider one another advantage for of autumn for Pushkin. It leads to the winter which will be always eternal love for Russian soul.

2. Tutchev – Есть в осени первоначальной I took this poem because I liked it more than your variant, sorry for that.
Tutchev in this poem tried to express the processes in weather changing while autumn, in other words he tried to show how earth is preparing for the winter (Короткая, но дивная пора) , but he also described autumn as beautiful period (Весь день стоит как бы хрустальный, и лучезарны вечера)

3.A. Apukhtin
The same line as the Pushkin’s mapping is in the yellow color of the falling leafs. Long evenings, dull mood, drying grass and rain. There is no something optimistic, only melancholy.

4.E. Bargrizky
Author pays more attention to the people’s living while the autumn is going. Autumn is time for harvest and it is disitinctive feature of the autumn for the author. There are also lines dedicated to the yellow grass of yellow fields etc.

5.S. Yesenin
For Yesenin autumn is a sign of coming winter. There is almost no sun, everything is blue(mood as well blue as the main color of the autumn). Seems that Yesenin is lost in the autumn. But anyway he is not man of autumn. As I feel, Yesenin is the man of early summer when the spring’s just gone. 6.I. Bunin
For Bunin autumn is the last part of summer. Autumn is herald of the winter too. In the day light it’s red and yellow, showing what summer has made and in the night all the thing become dark and blue telling about what coming

This quote represents Miss Brill’s old age. Using the autumn season means that Miss Brill is long past her prime and is about to enter the final stage of her life – winter. Also, the “yellow leaves” described in the story are colourless and decayed, just like Miss Brill. At the end of the story, the boy and the girl basically say that Miss Brill is decayed and obsolete by calling her a “stupid old thing” who wears a very weird fur around herself.…

"Summer was dead, but autumn had not yet been born the last graveyard flowers were blooming and the smell of them reminded us of the dead" (315). The author conveys death to us by stating the end of summer, and the beginning of autumn which brings sadness and death to living things which are words picked out to create a relation to death. The author also plays with our emotion by The choice of the words, graveyard and fall, which are seasons And things that commune to the passing and change of time which ultimately brings…

The poem begins by undercutting the beautiful, pleasant imagery promised by the title through the terse bluntness of the “dusk, and cold.” Flowers are indeed present as the title suggests, but only “frail, melancholy” ones, gathered by the subservient act of “kneeling” among “ashes and loam”. There is a definite sense of ending – both of the day, and of something grander. The persona’s attempts at engaging with the natural world are crudely rebuffed – she cannot succeed in her musical engagement, merely “try”, which results only in an “indifferent” blackbird “fret[ting] and strop[ing]” under “Ambiguous light. Ambiguous sky.” This unfriendly environment in which the poem begins foregrounds the sense of loss which characterises so much of Harwood’s poetry, an inevitable, confronting finality emphasised by the bluntness of the language and plethora of full stops. The adult world presented here is one of uncertainty, difficulty and ambiguity.…

For about as long as anyone’s been writing anything, the seasons have stood for the same set of meanings. Maybe it's hard-wired into us that spring has to do with childhood and youth, summer with adulthood and romance and fulfillment and passion, autumn with decline and middle age and tiredness but also harvest, winter with old age and resentment and death. How do the weather and the time of year emphasize the mood of the opening section? The author describes the time of year as “a raw, nondescript time of year, toward the end of November”, it was “wet”, and “icy”, which emphasize how dull and dark the mood is, reflecting the author’s feelings of “fear”.…

It represents the roaring twenties, where people lived lavishly and had no care for the consequence of their actions. Autumn represents the Great Depression, the end result of the American dream to me. This is because the date the Great Depression started was October 29, 1929 (a fall month) and also because it’s when the hopes and dreams of the main characters in the book came to an end. Gatsby’s dream to be with Daisy ended and the consequence of him dealing in illegal business also…

It’s getting colder for the season, and winter is almost coming. If people go out and walk on the street, they can see the differences between colours in summer/spring and colours in fall/winter. In the beginning of fall, nature starts to turn from green to orange even to red or brown. Also, in the end of fall, almost all leaves from the tree are withering. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, the weather and the colour of nature are two main reasons. Warm colours during fall are the best weapon to combat the freezing breeze.…

Autumn is my favorite season because of the colorful display of fall foliage and the autumn festivities all around. Autumn, also known as fall, is a season of change. This is the time of year when outdoor temperatures begin to drop, days become shorter, nights become longer, but, somehow, we seem to find more time to spend with our family and friends. Wonderful childhood memories come flooding back to me of scenic trips through the mountains, carving pumpkins, and many fall festivities I was blessed to share with my loved ones.…
