Abuses under the Color of Law
Presently, several federal laws enacted to address police misconduct, protect citizens from unethical law enforcement practices, and enforce police misconduct. The
Color of Law prohibits police misconduct under this law the types of abuses include: excessive force, sexual assault, intentional false arrests, or the intentional fabrication of evidence resulting in loss of liberty to another. For example, under the Color of Law section 1983, a part of the Civil Rights Act of (1871) it states that it is unlawful for anyone who is acting under the authority of state law to deprive a person of his or her own individual right.
