Have you ever thought about how hard it would be to explain to someone who’s colorblind what the color red looks like? It’s something that most of us take for granted, but approximately 4.5% of the entire population is colorblind.
The term colorblind generally doesn’t mean people can’t see colors - 99% of the time people experience a color deficiency, not complete blindness. However, there are some extreme cases where people can’t see any color whatsoever.
Like a 1920s movie, this father has lived his whole life only being able to see black and white, but what his family does for him is truly incredible.

Approximately one in 12 men will experience colorblindness, compared to one in 200 women. Men are more susceptible to colorblindness due to the fact that the most common form of colorblindness comes from a deficiency on the X sex chromosome.
While there are certainly worse things in the world than being colorblind, it can actually affect one’s life more than you might think. Those who are colorblind are restricted to what types of jobs they can get. Certain occupations such as police officers, firefighters, and pilots all must have normal color vision.
There has been no treatment for colorblindness…until now. Sort of.
