Colour Symbolism
RED is the color next to orange at the end of the visible spectrum. The wavelength of red light is approximately 620-740 nm on the electromagnetic spectrum.
History of RED
Inside cave 13B at Pinnacle Point, an archeological site found on the coast of South Africa, paleoanthropologist in 2000 found evidence that between 170,000 and 40,000 years ago, Late Stone Age people were scraping and grinding ochre, a clay colored red by iron oxide, probably with the intention of using it to color their bodies.
Red hematite powder was also found scattered around the remains at a grave site in a Zhoukoudian cave complex, near Beijing.
Red dye called Kermes was made beginning in the Neolithic Period by drying and then crushing the bodies of the females of a tiny scale insect in the genus Kermes, primarily Kermes vermilio.
RED’s application
In Philippine flag RED symbolized as Patriotism and Valor. Whenever Philippines is in state of war the red side is displayed on top instead of BLUE that means Peace.
RED is also commonly used as main color of some fast food chains like Hungry Jacks, McDonalds, KFC , Jollibee , ect.
RED was also used by some comic super heroes for their costumes like Spiderman, Ironman, etc.
Emperors of China usually wore ceremonial costumes of either yellow or red, depending upon which color their astrologers decided was more auspicious for their reign.
Red light is used to help adapt night vision in low-light or night time, as the rod cells in the human eye are not sensitive to red.
