11,127 is the number of Americans killed in the United States last year with a gun. 381 is the number of Germans killed with a gun, which is the closest statistic country to the U.S. Why is there so much gun violence in the U.S? What is so different in the U.S. that gun crime is so prevalent? What can we do to change it? All questions Bowling for Columbine poses in the film documentary by Michael Moore. Like the documentary, there is not one simple answer and there are no easy solutions.…
The documentary “Bowling for Columbine” is an award-winning documentary directed by well-known filmmaker Michael Moore. The film won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, as well as an Independent Spirit Award, a Cesar Award and many others. This bold movie criticizes America’s large number of gun related deaths annually compared to other countries around the world. He discusses why America seems to have such a problem with violence and how it has led to tragedy’s involving firearms like the imfamous shooting at Columbine high school in Columbine, Colorado. Since the Columbine shooting in 1999 there have been other school shootings that seem to closely resemble it, such as the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting and the recent 2012 Sandy Hook…
Tragedy looms above all, striking at the most inopportune of ocassions before sulking off into the unspecified realm of dark situations yet again. It has no preference for a certain variety of victims; to seek and destroy is the only goal with matter. Such is the case of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting on December 14, 2012. With fear then cast into the community of Newtown, Connecticut, and all of America, it may only be said that tragedy is received in the massive doses of heartache, despair, and a continuing aura of hopelessness, and with these feelings combined create an even more volatile feeling of misanthropy. This misanthropy hurts not only the person wielding it, but the others who may also express not as extreme feelings of misunderstanding. This unbearable, and, to some, unforgivable, act at the hands of a mentally unstable murderer is more of something of an inspiration of others to heed the calls of newfound hope in humanity, emphasize national mental health awareness, and the techniques utilized to prevent gun-related attacks.…
Effective communication is a key ingredient of our everyday lives; from parents telling their children what to do; to taking instructions from our bosses at work. Another key element in effective communication is being able to understand what is being asked of us. In many instances part of the message being conveyed is heard, which could affect the outcome of was actually instructed of one to complete. The instance of the Shooting at Columbine High reminds me of when you take ten people, you tell the first person to pass along a message and by the time you get to the tenth person the original message is so out of context that it unclear what was said to be passed.…

Columbine is based upon years of research and hundreds of eyewitness accounts in an attempt to recreate the lives of the two perpetrators who carried out one of the worst school massacres in American history: Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. On April 20th, 1999, before turning their weapons on themselves, Eric and Dylan managed to kill 13 people and wound dozens of others in the horrific tragedy. Dave Cullen spent years of research and interviewing in a hope to shed light on the motives and perspectives of the killers. Often times the media will jump to conclusions and a consensus before there is sufficient evidence to make a factual stable claim. Cullen discredits almost all previous motives and causes to the shootout which were sugarcoated by the media and the press. He believes that although the two killers may have faced bullying, that was not the sole case. In fact, he claims that they may have in fact had psychological issues to begin with.…
The columbine shooting that happened April 20, 1999. Twelve students and one teacher were killed by the students of Dylan Klebold, 17, and Eric Harris, 18. Eric labeled as psycopath and knew how to control it, and Dylan labeled with depression and didn’t care about life anymore. Based off their motives, they were lead to kill all the victims because of bullying and confusion that they had in high school.…
According to Webster's Dictionary, a massacre is, the violent killing of many people. There have been many school shootings in the history of America, but in the most recent years our country has experienced terror, heartbreak, and frustration. Together we have learned things and been able to prevent other bad things from happening. The most commonly brought up shootings took place at Columbine High School, Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook Elementary School. These three massacres have been the most modern, deadly events.…
If you live in the United States, you are probably used to hearing about shootings happening somewhere in the country pretty frequently because of the poor gun control. The US is accountable for the most mass shootings in the world, but the government still decides to do nothing to help the situation at all. How many more children do parents need to bury, parents children have to say goodbye to, and role models do we have to lose before the government finally does something about it? The only answer to that question is, no one knows. The answer that so many around the country have been praying to have, and the answer that no one can give to them. The answer that, families of those that we have lost over the years and civilians that are scared…
