The more costly, the more honest and reliable. * Ex. gazelles jumping up and down when an attacker is nearby. The cost is their death, but it signals that they are fast. * Honest signal: The gazelle example, very high cost and usually reliable. Ex. on Facebook is the kind of pictures they put up. * Conventional signals: Lower cost, rely on cultural understandings. Only way to determine if they're good or bad signals is long term observation. Ex. Having a BMW logo on you Facebook, doesn't tell you anything about them necessarily.
