Common Core Standards Research Paper

Career Readiness or formally known as the Common Core have been a hot topic in recent years. Not everyone agrees that Common Core should be the Leader in the School System, thus creating deep discussion among the nation. According to Mark Sulzer the Common Core Standards was adopted by many states including Alabama. The reason is simple Common Core will benefit all children in America regardless of their background, culture or race. Therefore, Common Core should be kept in Alabama Schools because of these reasons listed: teachers’ flexibility in the classroom, curriculum, critical thinking, collaborative teachers/ equal opportunity for students and finally prepares students for college. Common Core helps educators combine their efforts of teaching
Before Common Core children were drilled with information that might not pertain to them. Common Core gives a enriched understanding of curriculum. Implicating that students are given the opportunity to truly learn the material through fun interactive activities that the teacher provides. Writing is an important skill for students to develop, following Common Core Standards allow the children to write about real world situations that pertain to them and that will affect them in the future. This intrigues students to write according to Hall (2015). Murat Akkus (2016), suggest that Common Core Standards has helped math skills within the classroom. Math tends to be difficult, thus Common Core suggest guidelines that the teacher may follow. Test scores that tend to be tough for student, follow with results on how well Common Core standards are doing in the classroom.
Additionally Common Core allows students to think critically in every matter. Teachers teach children in a manner that will make them think critically. In Common Core children are expected to analyze information, think critically, then proceed with the right choice. This concept is beneficial to the student, because in the workforce or college these students are expected to make decisions that will affect them forever. Critical thinking questions are provided with Reading and Writing test format. There are also critical math skills that are developed according to Akkus
Therefore, Common Core is holding up to American Standards. Before, Common Core government influence was heavy. Now, schools adopt their own teaching based on the Common Core Standards. Common Core is important to American Education System. Educators agree that Common Core only benefits children because these standards prepare students for the real world. Multiple diverse people that only want the best for American children consist of: teachers, parents, experts and community leaders that make up Common Core Standards. Thus Common Core should be left to their community and left in American Education
