You will now record and submit a video performance of "Strums and Strokes" and "Picking and Strumming" for assessment:

1.09 assignment instructions
The assessment for lesson 01.09 will be a video performance. This assessment will include three segments. Record all three segments in one video session.
1. In this video assessment you will demonstrate that your guitar is properly tuned. With your video camera recording, play each string slowly.

2. "Strums and Strokes" (review lesson 01.06 if necessary)
a. Begin by playing three thumb sweeps across all six strings.
b. Then play three brush strums across all six strings.
c. Now play three rest strokes with your thumb (p) on the sixth string.
d. Next play a free stroke with each of your fingers (i, m, and a) on the third string.
e. Then play three free strokes with your thumb (p) on the fourth string.
f. Now play a rest stroke with each of your fingers (i, m, and a) on the first string.
g. Finish by playing a thumb sweep across all six strings, allowing the sound to fade away.

3. "Picking and Strumming" (review lesson 01.07 if necessary). Make sure to keep a steady beat.
a. Begin by using your guitar pick to strum all six open strings with a down-up-down-up pattern.
b. Now play the down-up-down-up pattern on the sixth string only.
c. Repeat the first step, strumming down-up-down-up across all six strings.
d. Now play the down-up-down-up pattern on the fifth string only.
e. Repeat the process, each time moving to the next higher-pitched string (fourth, third, second, and first).
f. Finish by playing a downstroke across all six open strings, allowing the sound to fade away.
