Common Issues Affecting Teenagers in Today’s Society and Generation
Background of the study: Now that we are well into the new Millennium society has begun to recognize serious concerns with issues that teenagers have to deal with today. Some issues have always been there but are now coming to the eyes of the public to find solutions. Other issues are new trends as society begins to adapt to a faster pace of life. This study will define the common issues that the teenagers are facing in today.
According to Ofer Zur (2011), Some of the most important issues facing our teenagers at this time are cyber-bullying, teen violence, school shootings, Internet use and abuse, online gaming, gaming addiction, bullying, violence on T.V., & teen suicide. Parents, teenagers and communities across the country are concerned with these issues, which are caused by a number of social, cultural, communal, economic, familial and individual factors. While it may be hard to change the nature of the Internet, T.V. or movies, there is always something that each one of us can do to reduce violence, prevent cyber-bullying and school shootings, reduce the rate of teen suicide and help develop a balanced use of the Internet and online gaming.
Statement of the problem:
How can teenagers face their life issues by themselves? What are the roles of the parents will be playing in the teenagers lives during puberty stage? What are the effects of being physically and emotionally open to social networking? What are the advantage and disadvantage of being independent? What are the main issues that can affect teenager’s view of living?
