The Burmese python is a very intriguing reptile. These carnivores can grow up to 20 feet long and have a diet of mostly small mammals and birds. They have scales that make beautiful colors and patterns which is probably why they are common choices for pets. They do not have venom but do possess other means of hunting. The pythons have sharp, curved teeth which dig into the animal they are hunting. As the animal tries to escaping it is just digging itself deeper in to the python’s teeth. Once the prey is weak the snake strangles it to death and eats it whole. They use chemical receptors to sense heat for finding food. “The pythons are extraordinary breeders with voracious appetites to match (paragraph 4).”They come in many interesting colors and sizes.…

In ancient India, tribes from across India had to carry out lots of funerary practices. These practices varied from jumping into fires to hiring professional mourners. These practices were completely different to Western countries. Like in ancient Jewish culture when a family member dies, they can’t watch television for 1 whole year! In ancient India when the widow’s husband died, she would have to jump into the fire with her husband and burn to death. This was called Sati. Another practice was, when a family member died, their family had to cry (a lot).…

    Diction In The Rattler

    • 536 Words
    • 3 Pages

The author’s diction heightens the power and force behind the snake as it responds to the man. When the man first stumbles across the rattlesnake, it is “undulant” while “waiting” and holding its ground in calm “watchfulness.” The diction conveys slight tension in the otherwise still setting. The atmosphere feels tranquil, and while the snake is cautious, it is still at ease. This tranquility disappears, however, as the man attacks, and the snake “shoots” into a dense bush and shakes its “furious” signal after a “twitch” of its tail. The snake’s movements show much more power than they did before the man attacked. In turn, the atmosphere becomes more tense as the snake becomes more forceful. The diction describing the snake before and after the man attacks creates a contrast…

The use of Indian culture by non-Indians as mascots, logos, and nicknames has been a constant fight for years. Schools have been using names of tribes with aggressive, stoic histories for their sports teams. But the Native Americans look at that and feel discriminated against, because of the negative stereotype given by that type of label.…

Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves (Oriya: ଉଦୟଗିରି ଓ ଖଣ୍ଡଗିରି ଗୁମ୍ଫା) are partly natural and partly artificial caves of archaeological, historical and religious importance near the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. The caves are situated on two adjacent hills, Udayagiri and Khandagiri, mentioned as Kumari Parvat in the Hathigumpha inscription. They have a number of finely and ornately carved caves. It is believed that most of these caves were carved out as residential blocks for Jain monks during the reign of King Kharavela.
