Introduction:
Communal problems in India have reached an endemic proportion. Each and every part of India is being affected by this problem. More and more people are becoming conscious about their own community. ‘National Integration’ is therefore a priority agenda for Indian politics as well as for voluntary and social organizations. Communal movements are driving their agenda in very systematic and sustainable way. Consequently, some or other parts of India have to face the communal flare up or situation of communal strife everyday. It disturbs the society at large. Today communalism is a serious threat to the nation and is the most challenging task in front of secular movements in India.
Sustainable communal harmony is one of the crucial aspects above all. Peace and development goes hand in hand. In the society, unless sustainable harmony is maintained for a longer period of time till then there would be hurdles in the process of development. People should realize and internalize the importance of peace. Unless they experience the peaceful society people will not give a value to it.
There are various catalysts that promotes communal disharmony such as mass media, religious and political leaders, police plays. Teacher is one of the catalysts to create communal attitude among children. The education system too plays crucial role in the process of communalizing the society. Today the character of education is brutally abused by communal politics. It develops a rift between the religious communities right from the school age among the children. Every element in the education system is important to form the opinions and perception of the students.
