Communication
Communication is dealt with in everyday life. Talking styles are a big part of that communication. Talking styles can help in communication but it can also interfere with understanding the message. Can matching talking styles affect the quality of interpersonal relationships? A person would think a better relationship will form if their language style was similar. Nonverbal communication can also play a big part in an interpersonal relationship. Words are not all that is received in a message. Can a website predict how well communication is in an interpersonal relationship by evaluating a conversation? Other elements that can be a factor in the communication can be the volume of the conversation, the tone of voice, or even the speed (Preston, 2005). Talking styles and nonverbal communication can be very important between individuals in a close relationship. According to the article “Shared Talking Styles Herald and Lasting Romance” talking styles play an important part of the communication people share in a relationship (Bower, 2010). Those people who do not get along with one another tend to have a similar language style (Bower, 2010). The article “Shared Talking Styles Herald and Lasting Romance” , claims that function words like pronouns, articles, conjunctions and prepositions is what shows how involved the two people are with each other (Bower, 2010). Language styles to not tell how well one individual likes another individual. However it does tell how well they are paying attention and understanding the conversation. Words cannot be the only factor to look at and evaluate the connection people have in an interpersonal relationship

Do the styles of our language predict the quality of interpersonal relationships? Psychological science thinks the reason why people show mutual romantic interests or can communicate better with someone is because of similar function words. “They say unconscious verbal coordination of this sort, dubbed language-style matching by researchers, signifies not how much two people like each other but how much each is paying attention to what the other says” (Ashford Library, Proquest; Bruce Bower). How can we determine if we have similar function words with who we are having conversation with? Researchers have been doing analyses on how to determine a conversation between two people and how the conversation can show how the two relate to each other.…

Interpersonal Communication contains four key elements: the communicator, the receiver, perceptual screens, and the message. The communicator is the person speaking or sending the message. The receiver is the person listening or receiving the message. Perceptual screens are window through which we interact with people in the world. They are the specifics rather: age, race, religion, value, beliefs, etc. These specifics have a large impact on how to send and receive messages. The message should have two working components.
