In this assignment I will be looking at the different types of communication which are used in care settings and the factors that support and inhibit communication.
Communication in my opinion means interaction with others, gaining information and retaining that information. It is very important because we use it in our daily lives to talk to people either orally or written. If there is a lack of communication then it will be hard for people to listen or to get the information they need. In care settings, different types of communication are needed to help with their patients or clients. Communication is important in health and social because it helps build a relationship between a client and a carer. There are four different types of communication, which are used in different care settings and the different ways in which people communicate; those ways are written, verbal, computerized and specialized. And the purpose of communication is to give information, obtain information and to exchange ideas with each other. In a health and social care setting it is extremely impossible to do without communication and we must sure that it is done effectively to make sure service users understand what carers are saying.
Written communication is one of the most important types of communication in my opinion. In health and social care setting written communication must be accurate, clear and legible. If a mistake is made in a formal record a client could have the wrong treatment or be given the wrong information. This could then lead to complaints and the health and social care provider could even be taken to court. Copies of written communication should always be kept in case they are needed for future reference.
There are many different types of written communication in which health and social care settings use.
A care plan is an agreement between the client and a health professional /carer to help the client manage their health
