Communication Paper: Electronic Medical Records In today’s marketing, there are a variety of communication modalities available to health care consumers and health care providers. According to Kotler, Shalowitz, & Stevens, 2008, “These modalities and venues of communication may entail benefits and challenges to both consumers and providers.” This paper identifies one specific mode of communication used by consumers and health care providers. Along with that, one benefit of the model to the patient will be discussed. Then, one aspect relating to the values and importance of maintaining patient confidentiality when using this mode of communication will be discussed. Also, one reason why this mode of communication is an effective means of communication between consumers and providers will be discussed. Afterwards, one will learn whether or not this mode of communication is different from others. One will also learn how the one communication modality used for marketing in health care that was chosen is the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
One Benefit to the Patient The benefits of electronic health records (EHRs) are numerous but one main benefit is that the EHR is digital. The world is gradually being transformed by digital technology and being digital enable devices to transform one’s daily lives and the way one communicate. EHRs create a greater and more seamless flow of information within a digital health care infrastructure. EHRs also encompass and leverage digital progress and can transform the way care is delivered and compensated (Benefits of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), (n.d.). Therefore using EHRs definitely allow the patient to obtain personal medical information instantly.
