General Introduction
Green vehicles and Trinidad and Tobago According to CIA World Factbook, Trinidad and Tobago has around 151 one cars per 100 person. With a population of approximately 1,262,566 people the total number of cars is about 1,902,172. Despite this large number of people and ever expanding car industry we have a negligible amount of green vehicles. This refers to any road vehicle that does not use petrol but uses alternative fuel sources for energy. This information led me to the theme of this portfolio, “Green vehicles in Trinidad and Tobago.” For the exposition, I presented an eight minute speech to my teacher that provided information on the benefits of green cars, the future of green cars and, their history, accompanied by two articles I have found on the topic. For the reflective I have written a short story, “Gregory’s green car” coupled with a preface giving the story’s purpose, intended audience and context. In this story I have analysed registers and dialectical variations. I have always been fond of cars since my father started carrying me to drag racing when I was younger also being a physics student, the mechanics of vehicles has always intrigued me but now that I can understand the conventional combustion engine I aspire to improve it. I hope to become an engine designer or mechanical engineer so I can promote and continue to improve green vehicles in Trinidad and Tobago so that the harmful effects of conventional cars to the environment can be reduced.
