COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY ESSAY

Communication Technology is the term used to describe the various methods of correspondence that are currently available. The term mainly refers to a computer based means of sending and receiving information, examples include texting, voicemail, email and social networking. The internet is now ready available in most households, companies and generally any place where people gather. Mobile phones have seen a huge advancement, in the past seven years, up till then most phones didn't have internet connection, except phones that were very expensive, but now you can watch videos, download music, play games and connect to internet on nearly all mobile phones available to buy. Social networking sites such as Facebook, my space and twitter allow people to expand their network of friends via the internet. People can display information about themselves and up date this information via newsfeeds. 'Blogging' has become increasingly popular in the past three years and allows the 'blogger' to update and share his/her opinions on certain subjects.

There are advantages and disadvantages to Communication Technology, as we become more advanced in this field the more dependent we become on it for our every day existence. If your computer crashes or the internet is unavailable we become irritable and impatient, webecome less self-relient and more distant from others. I know that my 14 year old daughter is completely relient on her iphone and ipad, if i suggest that she leaves her iphone or ipad off for an hour or so she becomes upset at the thought of not having her 'lifeline' with her. These have become essential for her and her friends. These 'gadgets' are not cheap and if the latest product can't be afforded this can create problems within the family and jealousy with friends. The 'i want what she has'..... syndrome.

The increased availability of electronic information affects me and my family greatly in our day to day activities, this has had a major impact on my life over the past few years in particular, for example I access a variety of different screen-based documents such as, e-mails, text messages, internet web pages, television etc. The decrease of paper-based documents has been extremely rapid with me and parents, with my parents accessing work material over the internet rather than being handed a paper based report. This has also impacted me as I use text messages to speak with my parents, family and friends, making it efficient for me to talk to them on the go and quickly. This saves me the journey of having to walk to friends or families houses, although these mobile phones do run on a portable battery, these are not always the most efficient making people unavailable, which is a disadvantage to this. Also another mutual thing that has affected me and parents greatly is the way that we search information; years ago I would simply walk to the library and borrow a textbook, or enquire with my parents or teachers about certain information. Now I have unlimited access to a computer with various different search engines such as; Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves etc. I can search for whatever information that I seek, and I have search…

At some point in time, the development of technology undergoes change and improvement where our communication techniques begin to gradually develop, often into something more effective or advanced. The advancement of technology has an effect on the communication capabilities of specialized databases in the criminal justice system, for example, the Automated Fingerprint Identification system (AFIS) and the facial recognition method both benefit law enforcement agencies through the use of computer graphics that are operated for the purpose of identifying facial descriptions and an individual’s fingerprints.…

EC51-DIGITAL COMMUNICATION UNIT-1 DIGITAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 1. What are the advantages of digital transmission? The advantage of digital transmission over analog transmission is noise immunity. Digital pulses are less susceptible than analog signals to variations caused by noise. Digital signals are better suited to processing and multiplexing than analog signals. Digital transmission systems are more noise resistant than the analog transmission systems. Digital systems are better suited to evaluate error performance. 2.What are the disadvantages of digital transmission? The transmission of digitally encoded analog signals requires significantly more bandwidth than simply transmitting the original analog signal. Analog signal must be converted to digital codes prior to transmission and converted back to analog form at the receiver, thus necessitating additional encoding and decoding circuitry. 3. Define data Signalling Rate. Data signalling rate is defined as the rate measured in terms bits per second(b/s) at which data are transmitted. Data signaling rate Rb=I/Tb Where Tb=bit duration. 4. Define modulation rate. It is defined as the rate at which signal level is changed depending On the nature of the format used to represent the digital data.It is measured in Bauds or symbols per second. 5.Why do we go for Gram-Schmidt Orthogonalization procedure? Consider a message signal m. The task of transforming an incoming message mi=1,2,…..M, into a modulated wave si(t) may be divided into separate discrete time & continuous time operations. The justification for this separation lies in the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure which permits the representation of any set of M energy signals, {si(t)}, as linear combinations of N orthonormal basis functions 6. What is called processing gain ? Processing Gain (PG) is defined as the ratio of the bandwidth of spread message signal to the bandwidth of unspreaded data signal ie). BW (spreaded signal) Processing Gain =…
