Communism was basically a theory or system based on the ownership of all property and goods by the community as a whole. President Harry Truman issued the truman doctrine on March 1947 which did not allowing communism to spread. Dixiecrats, opposed Truman and felt that the government had no right to get involved. The Cold War continued through the 60’s and 70’s, JFK was the president of this time. Especially during the superpower rivalry and the cuban missile crisis. In 1962 the Soviet Union had placed nuclear missiles in Cuba to annoy and scare the United States.He was the president who went on tv and told the public about the Crisis and allowed the leader of the soviet union to withdraw their missiles. He was also the first Catholic president.
In conclusion communism was an event that affect people all around, and left lasting scars for many. The Modernist response to communism in an aggressive, and rational way in the U.S. You really could not believe in anyone. It was hard to know who was a communist, and who was not. With the Government making the problem even harder to Americans, creating tension in daily lives. People were getting accused, even if there was not any support to back up the claims. In my opinion it should have been dealt with in a more orderly
