Community Observation
Community partners are those who work in groups to provide for the needs of the communities through service learning partnerships. Strengthening communities as well as set roles for each member of the group and plan to address the needs, the goals of the community they allocate in.
The community partner with whom I worked was with the VCU Rice River Center. The VCU Rice River Center is a huge importance in expanding the environmental knowledge as well as preserving the health of our natural resources. The center is devoted to environmental research, teaching, and public service. Their mission is to be expanding their focus on scientific research education and public outreach internationally.
At the center, we split into two group to remove

It was set to rain that day but it seemed like nature wanted us to work on continuing to remove the invasive species, the rain passed by quick and we continued to remove the invasive plants. The weather was perfect not to hot or chilly, even thought eventually we all got hot and sweaty when removing the plants.
During this service learning experience, students were able to create our own goals to achieve in the projects & highlight the appropriate ways to work in the group. Each of us learning how to brainstorm the community need to collaboratively plan out the plan in addressing the needs. As a student, I can write about what went well during my experience volunteering and what we can do differently next time this is done. On the teacher level, the next time we go on to do this project again, we are able to guide those that are new to the project.
Although service learning does not work for hire, each student addressed the issues with commitment because the community partners need us to be professional as well as be efficient in the work we progress. Our community partners need us to be open to uncertainty as well as learn to understand the educational

Being out in the world, feeling the nature, smelling the freshness, as well as feeling the feeling of being useful has made me have positive mentality towards my life on my daily life routines. I feel much better dealing with issues in helping other, helping friend and family. Volunteering has kept me mentally and physically active.
Through ESL, volunteers get to engage with multiple community partners, learning and studying the community needs together to identify and evaluate the problems and brainstorm together to find the solution to the issues dealt. This means that community partners expect the volunteers to have an open mind and a strong commitment to the issues. High levels of responsibility are expected in your actions with the community partners.
ESL has provided me with the knowledge that will ultimately affect my life. Health benefits to boost my happiness and the fact of yourself making an impact has stemmed my education. Not only will this experience advance my career, it has taught me to build relationships and support the strategies and programs that directly impact the community I live

I have always cherished the value of service and its effects on communities. A school class that I take that promotes service is Student Senate. A requirement for that class is ten hours of community service per trimester, and I have been a part of this group since sophomore year. This class is all about improving our school and creating an enjoyable environment for our students to be in. An example of this would be when I helped decorate the halls during themed weeks such as Spirit Week and Winterfest along with my fellow classmates.…

The first service learning project I completed was in 2006 which was a participation in tutoring a year six student in the Aquinas College junior school. This tutoring was during winter. After the first week I found it difficult to complete three sport trainings a week (1 in Melville), an after school guitar lesson, a hockey game on Friday nights plus the tutoring program, I thought I was going to have to stop the tutoring and complete service learning in a different area. But after the first week of tutoring I found that tutoring became a priority, I felt that Ricardo found the tutoring much help and seemed to benefit from it. I finished the tutoring program without missing one session.…

Spelman College’s motto, A Choice to Change the World, mirrors my goal as a member of this intellectual community. During my first year at this institution, I dedicated myself to several hours of community service. I found that this was a vital part of my intellectual growth as both a student and person within society. This year I volunteered for several nonprofit organizations, however I dedicated most of my time to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Before volunteering for this organization I was not quite sure how I would be able to make a significant difference in my community. However, when I volunteered for this organization, I was able to tremendously help people in Atlanta. Likewise, this experience opened my eyes to the increasing…

The first was the comfort I offered to a 1 year old little girl who was unable to stop crying. The second was previously mentioned about how I could encourage the boys that they had the potential to succeed. The benefits I have gained from this service learning experience have been extremely beneficial to me as a freshmen in college. One of the things I learned from this is that many people need all sorts of different resources so that they can live day to day, along with that no matter how bad I think my day may be sometimes or how bad of a life I have that I really am not that bad off. I am forever grateful for the opportunity I was involved…
