Community service is to run service for people around the community for free. I helped a pre-k teacher that goes to Christine curry child development center elementary school. I had volunteered there for a couple of months. For the first month, I helped around the classroom. I would also watch television around the children for the with the children .for the second month of community service, I would go outside with the kids and go play with them. More else, I would help the teacher grade her paper work. First and foremost, in the first month, I helped around the classroom and watched with the children. Whenever the parents would come to pick up their children, I would aid them of making sure that they sing out. If they don’t speak well English, I would translate it to kreol, if that they so speak. Other than that, I would try to fix the classroom. I would arrange the bookshelf’s and fix the little nap beds. When it’s time to watch TV, I would sit there to comfort them and watch it with them. If they have any question ,I would answer it the best way I can’t would also make sure nobody is talking or arguing .if they do what is told the teacher would usually make me give out snacks ;however ,I have to make sure they don’t talk and drop crumbs on the floor. Furthermore, the second month of community service I would go outside with the kids. I would also help the teacher grade her paper work. When it is recess time, every child would go outside and play.so I decide to go play with them. I would jump rope with them, play basketball ,and even play kickball tori would keep encouraging them to do better when their competing against each other when their playing the games. When their done, I know everyone is tired.so then we put out their nap beds and make sure they take a nap till their parents arrive. When they are sleeping, that’s when the teacher would grade her paper.so she tells me what to do with them, and I follow the instructions. Sometimes she does the grading with another pre-k teacher.so she tells me to just file them and put them in order. As was previously stated, I did community service for a couple months with a pre-k teacher that went to Christine curry child development center elementary school. For the first month I helped around the classroom and watch television with the children. For the second month I went played outside with the beds and help the teacher grade her paper work. I enjoy doing this community service through the summers and the past months. This experience shows me how the real world of doing an actual job is like. Therefore, I will be ready for the future of a real job.

I would need to make sure that the classroom is arranged properly, so that there are hands on activities such as, sand and water table, craft and writing, puzzles and games, and block areas for the children. I would also have to make sure that these areas were arranged so that the children could go in and out of them safely. I help them choose activities that best meet all of the children’s abilities. During mealtime I also participate in helping the children, I make sure that they are washing their hands before and after each meal and or snack. The children also assist in setting the table during this time I instruct them to keep all food and utensils on the table and encourage them to use all the utensils instead of their hands. I sit at the table with them and model appropriate mealtime behavior and…

Since middle school, I have been involved in numerous local beach and river cleanup events. In Nature Academy I was able to design my own community service project. During 7th grade, I banded together with a few fellow classmates and we decided to clean up the streets of Felton one staple at a time. The state of the poles there were horrible; covered in the metal pieces from prior flyers posted there. After several weeks and hours, we had defeated the evil staples. In 8th grade, I had done some more community service on a smaller scale. By helping out in the community garden at school, I had helped the crops grow, that were then disbursed to families in need of fresh…

For the month of September, I completed my community service by being a SPO, or a Safety Patrol Officer for Achieve Charter Academy. Ms. Fuller was the dean directing the Safety Patrol program. After going through training, I started arriving to school early on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, starting on the 21st of September. I had to be in school by seven forty in the morning; I’d put my books in my locker, sign in at Ms. Fuller’s office, get my belt on, and be out at my post by a quarter until eight. My shift ended at ten past eight. While doing this, I completed a total of one hundred twenty minutes, or two hours, of community service for my school.…

~Mahatma Gandhi. Service is to help others in need or not in need. I am excited to try to do even more service in the future. I have many ideas for the school when it comes to service. One idea is to help children in hospitals by just making them something like a card or decoration. My dad is working with a company that is rebuilding St. Peter’s Hospital and I know that some of the kids in the children’s section of the hospital would love something to cheer them up. Right now for service I give my old clothes and toys to my younger cousin and if she doesn’t want them, we take them to the Salvation Army. Also like I had mentioned in the first paragraph we donate over three or four hundred dollars a year to the WGY Christmas wish organization. That money goes to poor families so the parents can buy presents or food for their children. I know I need to work on this skill in particular but I have many good…

I am a very athletic person, therefore in my free time my activities include running, playing sports, coaching and being involved with my family. Working two jobs, one being a Nursing Assistant and Unit Technician at The Community Health Center of Branch County and the other doing in home care for an elderly patient, does make it difficult to find free time. With what little free time I do have I enjoy spending it with my family as they are very important to me. I try to make it a routine to visit with my grandmas to have lunch with them and to drive them around where ever is needed due to the fact that they both cannot drive. I am currently training to run a marathon in May. During softball season, I volunteer with the coaching staff at the Coldwater High School. My greatest satisfaction so far in life, is the fact that I am one of few to have graduated from a college with a degree within my family. I am proud to say that I have paid for me education with my hard work. I hope with the help of Glen Oaks Community College I can obtain a new satisfaction of becoming a nurse.
