Course description
Our Certificate IV in Youth Work is for you if you facilitate programs for young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people. You will develop skills in community development, communication, empowerment of young people, cultural diversity and crisis management. You will be required to sign that you have read and understood your obligations in terms of the Student Code of Conduct and the TAFE NSW - Safe and Ethical practice during student workplace learning policy. In addition, as the course focusses on working with vulnerable people, you may be advised to sign the NSW Commission for Children and Young People Volunteer/Student Declaration if your work placement is in a child-related agency or be required to undertake a police check for work placement in a NSW Health facility.
Other information
Students outside of NSW will be required to refer to their own state/territory working with children agency.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. If you are under 17 and want to leave school, your options have been affected by a recent change in NSW law. From January 2010 you must complete Year 10 and then continue in
