You are required to write a country report, with mini case study elements of roughly 400 words each. You are free to write as much or as little as you like on each section, but the overall report should be NO MORE than 3000 words.
The first step is to choose which country to focus on. You may choose ANY emerging market. If in doubt, ask your tutor.
Bear in mind when making your choice the accessibility of data and supporting material. Clearly some of the larger countries will have extensive and more readily available material. The seven parts of the report are as follows:
1. Development.
Drawing upon data and theories of development, explain the characteristics of the development of your chosen country. The time period chosen will be your judgement. You will need to include economic, political and socio-cultural factors. The weight you give to each will be your judgement based upon the unique context of the country chosen.
2. The Business Environment
In this section you should identify and explain the key aspects of the current business environment and how they relate to the ease of doing business. You should think about such aspects as the general political and cultural environment and refer to such issues as governance, rule of law, degree of corruption, crime, infrastructure (provision of roads, utilities, ports etc.), labour markets and demographics as you feel appropriate. What you focus on will be your judgement as to what areas you consider the most important.
3. The Economic Environment and Business
This section should address the more microeconomic aspects of the business environment. You should look at aspects such as taxation, starting a business, property rights, intellectual property rights etc. You should comment on whether elements of the microeconomic environment are supportive of
