Abstract McGraw-Hill Companies is a diversified corporation with two separate divisions, McGraw-Hill Financial and McGraw-Hill Education, and several brands within each. McGraw-Hill Companies’ operations are strong and it’s competition is manageable, as determined by an analysis of each industry with which McGraw-Hill is involved. Approaching the corporation from a macroeconomic standpoint, their global footprint requires compliance with various regulations but also provides an opportunity to service entirely different demographic while increasing profit. From a microeconomic perspective, the corporation is well diversified with it’s several brands, allowing them to better manage themselves internally with market instability and uncertainty.

Company Introduction The McGraw Publishing Company, founded in 1902, was what has now become McGraw-Hill Companies (“Corporate History,” 2011). In over 10 decades, the company has continuously expanded into new markets with a key focus on innovation and education. A mission that can be found on the company’s website, “global information and education company providing knowledge, insights and analysis in the financial, education and business information sectors through leading brands.” In current day, McGraw-Hill Companies is headquartered in New York City, New York. With more than 280 offices in 40 countries, McGraw-Hill Companies’ CEO, Harold McGraw III, employs approximately 23,000 individuals worldwide ("The mcgraw-hill companies," ). The corporation has many brands, including Standard & Poor’s Rating Services, S&P Indices, S&P Capital IQ, Platts energy information services, J.D. Power and Associates, and is often a familiar name to students due to the involvement of their last brand, McGraw-Hill
