A company must be careful in their choices, behaviors and actions because one negative incident can influence the reputation they have developed with stakeholder for years to come.
Level one of social responsibility states that companies have an economic responsibility to be profitable which comes hand in hand with creating jobs for their community. This level clearly shows that Company Q has violated social responsibility because the company closed two stores that probably left many workers, and community members in at terrible economic position. Company Q closed two grocery stores that were located in a major metropolitan area which gives us an indication that the competition is high in terms of employment, and it will be more difficult for Company Q's former employees to find employment. It is a reality that healthy and organic products are more costly than for example, junk food, frozen dinners and any general unhealthy products. The company needs to be socially responsible of their prices, and evaluate if they are fair in the context of healthy food prices. The company could take an action regarding this social responsibility issue by creating a survey that is available both online and in stores for their customers. The survey could include a list of important health conscious and organic products that the Company already offers. In the survey customers should have the option to rate which products they are more likely to purchase even if they are healthy eaters or not, and what price range is considered fair for such products.
