The lesson “life is what you make it” was a big part of the novel. But also this lesson was reflective. When Edwin asked Cole to go to the freezing pond, he gave him a stick and says that the right end of the stick represented happiness while the left end represented anger. Cole broke the anger side of the stick, until he recognized that everytime he broke…
For the live theatre show, I decided to watch “A Christmas Story, The Musical” directed by Valerie Easton at Vancouver Arts Club Stanley Industrial Aalliance Stage. The show focuses on a child named Ralphie, who wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.Valerie’s production captured the happiness and cheerful atmosphere during Christmas and also focus on emphasizing Ralphie’s desire of a BB Gun as his Christmas present. During the show, I was impressed by many design and technical production elements. For example, the quick changes, the adequate use of theatre stage and also the use of sets to change from fantasy and reality. However, the most striking elements to me are the set piece of Ralphie’s house and the sufficient use of rigging system.…
A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Suess are very similar. First off, the setting of both stories are related since they take place in small towns and both begin on Christmas Eve and end on Christmas Day. However, the Grinch lived outside of Who-ville while Scrooge lived in his own small town, which is why no one knew of the Grinch and Scrooge’s whole town was familiar with him. This is also a reason why the Grinch strongly despised Christmas and wanted to end it instead of just not celebrating, like Scrooge. The Grinch was very lonely, even with his dog because he was never invited to parties whereas Scrooge was, even though he declined; this shows that Scrooge may not be liked, but at…
I like the movie a christmas carol more than the book. The story a christmas carol has been a very famous story for a long time. The move was better because you could see the actions the charters was taking. Every time the charters mood would change in the movie the lighting or the music would change.…
A Christmas Carol, in both forms of a movie and a drama, were both well written and directed. A tale about a man who is greedy and grumpy and all for wealth, becoming a very kind and caring person. It is a lesson well taught of becoming a great person. All in all between the movie and the play, many differences can be sought out between the two.…
There are multiple differences between the film and book, A Christmas Carol. Scrooge does not meet Tim on the street waiting for his father. The book does not tell a part about just Tim and his father. Marley’s ghost does not say his name repeatedly to Scrooge. When Ebenezer looks out his window to see where the ghost of Marley went there are phantoms in the air. The Ghost of Christmas Past is a male. Scrooge does not dance with a woman. He wakes up on his bed instead of floor. The conversation between Ebenezer and his nephew, Fred, is short. The Ghost of Christmas Future does not make a screeching sound.…
Dante Alighieri and Charles Dickens are both well known authors from completely different regions and time periods yet there are many parallels between the two authors and their literature. A Christmas Carol and Dante’s Divine Comedy share many similarities and differences. Each novel is based around a central christian holiday, has a flawed main character encouraged to better themselves, and both manifest a tripartite structure. The greatest differences between the author’s and the literature are the time period, and the author’s personal lives. These are just a few examples of a how a Christmas Carol and Dante’s Inferno compare and contrast to one another.…
Almost all of America has some point on Christmas Eve or even Christmas Day sat down in front of the TV and watched A Christmas Carol on one of the local channels. It’s like a tradition at my house and probably is at many other households as well. Charles Dickens created the modern Christmas, the Christmas we all know and celebrate today. When we watch the movie or read his book, people mainly focus on the story of Christmas and how Dickens creates that image in our head. One major story we miss by just thinking about the Christmas season is what the economy and society was like during his lifetime. Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol after the British government changed the welfare system…
To conclude, the themes and characters of the two Christmas classics, “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “A Christmas Carol”, have similarities beyond compare while still having contrasting variations of their own stories. Aspects that only one or the other possess, is what brings these stories to…
One lesson in the story is that when people spoil their children they become selfish and greedy. the children are becoming very spoiled with their things children have been spoiled and have been given everything they want. “lock up the nursery for a few days until I get my nerves settled. you know how difficult peter is about that when I punished him a month ago by locking the nursery for a few hours the tantrum he threw and wendy too they live for that nursery. ”That when the children got mad when they were punished, and were only punished for a few hours.…

A great work of art that has a great impact on my life is the novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickson. The story tells of a cold hearted, selfish business man named Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by his deceased business partner Jacob Marley and three ghosts on Christmas Eve. Jacob Marley who chained tells Scrooge that he should change his way or he will be punished in the after life. Marley beged for Scrooge to be given a chance to change. The ghost’s job is to persuade Scrooge to change his ways to avoid punishment in the afterlife. The three ghosts show Scrooge past, present, and future events that help Scrooge realize he is wrong and changes Scrooge into a better person. The story has had an impact on my life in many ways. The story taught me that a person’s behavior is a product of their past. If a person is unkind, it is the events that happened in their past that has made them who they are. It’s a reminder that showing compassion toward unkind people can make them a happier. The story has also taught me to treat people with kindness and respect. Lastly the story has taught me to always help the less fortunate because a little kindness can change a person's life.…
(Hook) Romeo was to blame for the death of him and his star crossed lover for three reasons. The first reason being he was over dramatic and aggressive with many things. The second being he would constantly act out to quickly without thinking of the consequences his actions would bring. The third reason being he fell ‘in love’ with Juliet and made her fall ‘in love’ with him too. For these three reasons I believe Romeo was to blame for him and Juliet’s tragic deaths.…

When you are a little kid, you believe that you are invincible, and have no fears and throw all caution to the wind. Many children under the age of 10 end up with broken arms or legs due to their outrageous doings, but I was never one of those kids. I was the little girl who preferred playing with Barbies and Polly Pockets and playing dress up rather than going and running around outside.…
