The United States involvement within the United Nations serves as a way to continue to fight global issues around the world. One such foreign relations issue that affects everyone in the world today is terrorism. The United Nations approach to terrorism could be seen through the Global Counter Terrorism Strategy. According to United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force, “a common strategic and operational approach to fight terrorism, not only sending a clear message that terrorism is unacceptable in all its forms and manifestation but also resolving to take practical steps individually and collectively to prevent and combat it” (United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism). From this, we are able to conclude that as a whole the world should unite together to combat against the negativity from terrorism and jointly working side by side to develop initiatives to address terrorism in the world. An international approach to terrorism would allow the United States to work with other allied nations across the world to combat against terrorism and develop initiatives against terrorism, a long goal for the United States since the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Beyond, the global issue of terrorism the United States when possible voices their concerns and opinions on other issues such as human rights, poverty, peace and democracy, to the member nations that are part of the United Nations. This is an essential part as it helps to effectively address international issues and reaching out to other allied nations in support of combating these issues within our society. I think that this is an effective approach in terms of the United States using the United Nations as a stomping ground, to effectively address the global security concerns on
