Addie had to deal with, her father’s death, her bipolar smoking mother and her caring stepfather. Her stepfather moved upstate and brought Addie and her mother with them. He moves them next to him in a trailer. He and his children live in a mansion. The Department of Youth and Family Services takes Addie away from her mother. These happen because Addie’s mother spends so much time with her boyfriend that she leave her 12 year daughter home all night by herself. Her new friends Soula and Elliot are like family to her. Her friend suffered and died from cancer. She wants to live her dreams with her stepfather but Addie is all her mother has on the world. On the other hand sundara has a hard time getting use to America’s traits. She had evacuated from her country because of the war. This made her and her family separate. She went to live with her aunt Soka in California. Sundara learned how to speak English. She works at Mr. Bonner’s field for a living. They plant, pick, and sell their fruits. All of the money they earned is sent to families in Asia waiting to get rescued. Jonathan gets injured at a football game and drops out. When he was hospital sundara came to visit him. He told her that he loved her and was shocked. Sundara is blamed for making Jonathan drop out of football and needs to convince him to get back on the team. But sundara doesn’t want to
