Skunk Scout vs. Best 4th of July Skunk Scout and Best 4th of July are very similar because they both went camping but are also different because in one story the kids are with their Uncle but in the other she is not. Skunk Scout and Best 4th of July are similar because they both went camping. The quote from Best 4th of July reads,”With a name like that, the Camp really went all out to celebrate.” This quote proves Lateesha went to a camp.…
The setting of the book depends on the weather that is being discussed within the chapter. For example, at the beginning of the book, children are riding their bikes through the grass on a sunny day. There are two additional settings where…
The differences in the settings of the novel is that it changes from a violent setting, on to a peaceful setting as the novel progresses. for example, in the beginning of the text, It starts off with Ponyboy getting mugged by the Socs, but then progresses on to understanding a theme that lies beneath the text. It then ends with Pony writing in his english class about his past experiences.…
Following a career of your dreams comes with consequences and the realization of who the real supporters in your life are. In the movie A Hard Day’s Night it portrayed the members of The Beatles as a band with a perfect mythical life of mischievous acts and female screaming fans that run after them everywhere they go. While Johnny Cash, in the movie Walk the Line, undergoes a more realistic and factual lifestyle with struggles of being an absent dad and a depressed person that gets dragged into a life-changing addiction. Although A Hard Day’s Night and Walk the Line are similar in symbolizing the motto “follow your dreams” I favored Walk the Line more because it's more relatable in the sense of tough love from Cash’s father.…
For example in the stories there is a difference in the ways of preparation between the characters. In the article, “Survival is the Ultimate Goal in World’s Toughest Sled Dog Race,” The author explains that, “sleds[are] loaded with food, kibble, and survival supplies.” whereas in the story, “To Build a Fire,” the man is only prepared with food and matches. This means that the people racing are way more prepared than the man in the short story. In the same articles/stories it includes more differences, one being that they both take very different amounts of time. In the article about, “Survival is the Ultimate Goal in World’s Toughest Sled Dog Race,” it says that the race lasts up to ten days! In the short story, “To Build A Fire,” the man only lasted 12 hours before dying. This shows that there was a huge difference in the difficulty of the journey. Therefore there is a numerous amount of differences in the two articles/stories. In conclusion the stories have countless amounts of differences and similarities that can be…
The movie and the book are alike and different. One of the biggest reasons that they are the same is that in both the video and the text the setting is on the planet Venus. Another similarity is that in both the sun comes out for only one hour. One big difference between the two is that in the book, the children didn’t give Margot flowers at the end, but they did in the movie. Another difference is that in the video, the rain had not stopped for nine years, but in the short story, it had not stopped for 7 years. Finally, a reason that they are different is that Margot was not as shy in the movie as she was in the book. These are 5 ways that the movie and the text are…
Have you ever wondered, hey, that painting looks sad? Well paintings have themes too. The painting “The Scars of Bullying,” by Haley Lucero has almost the same motif as “All summer in a day,” by ray bradbury. All summer in a day is about how people colonized Venus. It rains only every seven years.…
The point of view in both stories affect the description of the same event by the use of light and dark imagery, the tone of the narrators, and the possible relationships that can be developed…
In the direct, later on, indignant article “Endless Summer”, Rick Bragg reveals the transition from childhood to adulthood by using figurative language throughout the article. Bragg portrays that time last forever and summer is the same way. Summer feels so long to a child because they spend countless hours playing in the pool and staying out till dark. They wake up and repeat the same routine the following day. To Bragg, the transformation to an adult is very grim; because it means more responsibility. Jobs have priority and take up more time, leaving little to no free time to do the enjoyable things. Nevertheless, summertime as a kid is entertaining, but the memories will have to do because as adults, jobs take priorities in life.…
In both Elie Wiesel’s “Night” and Roberto Benigni's “ Life is Beautiful” the element of…
Have you ever heard stories on the internet or the news of people getting shot or being hurt by bullying? In the story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury and in “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. people are getting hurt two different ways, but in the act of jealousy. In “All Summer in a Day”, a girl name Margot (on Venus) knows more about the sun than the other children, yet, instead of the other children wanting to know more and hearing her out, they put her in a closet. And in “Harrison Bergeron”, there’s a handicap general who forces everyone to wear some kind of tech/gear to hide their strengths. People can be easily manipulated to go one way or the other, for people may know more, seen more, or have more than them and treat them…
Something they have in common is they both have ghosts as the characters. They also take place in a place that is in the U.S. another is that the main characters are both going on trips or away from home. Some Things that they have that are different is that “In The Fog” takes place at a gas station. The “The Hitchhiker” takes place across the country.…
The coming together of this project has really taught me a lot about the theater world as well as learning about just people in general. Why they do what they do, why they wear what they wear, and how to piece them together based solely on how they present themselves. In the coming together of my costumes for Joe Turner’s Come and Gone I first took the time to reread the play, get a feel for each character, their personalities, what other plays, TV shows or movies I could compare it to and what colors and patterns come to mind when visioning each person. When breaking all those aspects down I focused mostly on the show “Good Times”. “Good times” is pretty much around the same time period; some of the characters, for example, Zonia and Penny are similar in certain ways! They both are little children who don’t have the best of the best but their parents make sure they looked presentable. Or Florida Evans from “Good Times” who could be compared to Bertha, the mother of the house; they were both the furthering type, always there to support the young ones, give advice, and cook the meals.…
The paintings “The Lifeline” by Winslow Homer and “Prairie on Fire” by Charles Deas are two paintings that really struck out to me as similar. I think Homer’s painting, “The Lifeline”, is a very dramatic painting because of how the lady is just laying there passed out while this brave man is swinging across dangerous waves and rocks to get them to safety. Its very different from looking at in class because you can actually see the texture and brush strokes the artist used. When standing in front of a painting, it almost feels like your there watching this happen. You can see all the different details from the small brush strokes to the large ones, and the effect of light almost makes them look like they are glistening. I selected Charles Deas painting to compare to Homer’s painting because in both paintings a woman is passed out and is…
The song “Seminole Wind” by John Anderson has a very country vibe to it. The song…
