Rome had ways and arrangements that help them function. They had parts that work very well and was successful, while others were unfair and not as successful.
Purpose of Government Provide public service Grade A
http://historylink101.com/2/Rome/roman-aquaducts.htm
Rome was very advanced, romans had public roads where carriages drove, they had public baths were a man or women could wash up by putting a special kind of mud on their whole body and washing themselves in a lake. They also had a public police, hospital, and fire department. Great and highly advanced Roman waterway system are among the greatest accomplishments in the ancient world. and sewer system carrying away disease from the population within the city wasn't exceeded in size until very modern times. Romans sometimes built cities on dry plains. They would find a spring in the mountains and take that water into the city, which would not have been possible without the transported water. With the water, this allowed them to have baths, fountains, and drinking water. The water would flow into a disposal sink which would have a number of smaller pipes to fill public baths, fountains, or a few wealthy homes in that area of the city. When Rome had visitors they were amazed by how clean the water is. I gave it an A because they did think about other people and not just themselves but some were greedy and didn’t want to share the water with others so when they were told to turn off their tube, when they had a drought but other than that it was amazing how it work.
Purpose of Government Protect rights Grade D+
http://www.ducksters.com/history/ancient_rome/roman_women.php
Throughout the history of Ancient Rome, women were considered second to men. They had little official role in public life. But women did played an important part in history of Ancient Rome. Women couldn’t vote and didn’t have a voice in the government. They treated poorly and had very little rights. Women weren't completely without rights they could own property and run businesses. Some women became very wealthy and held power through their wealth. But when they got married they had to give it all up and were told to give it all to their husbands. They had even fewer rights when they got married if you had a baby the husband had all the legal rights when it came to the children. As you might expect, wealthy women had a much better life than peasant women. They were often educated and taught to read and write. Once married, they had servants and slaves who did most of the hard work around the house. The wife managed the servants, but still had plenty of time for leisure and planning house parties. Women had fair right and were kind of treated good but not all the time that's why I gave it a C- that could have more right if they were very wealthy but other than that they were treated very poorly.
Purpose of Government Rule of Law Grade B
http://rome.mrdonn.org/12tables.html http://www.crystalinks.com/romelaw.html The people of Rome had changed.
They were tired of being ruled by kings. They wanted to rule themselves. So after years of fighting against the last king of Rome, Tarquin the people of Rome created a new form of government. It was called a republic. In a republic, every citizen votes for leaders who create their laws. But only adult free men could be citizens. That meant women, children and slaves were not citizens, and could not vote or hold place in the government. They also wanted to make sure that the law applied to everyone, rich and poor. So they engraved the law on tablets of metal and put them in the forum for everyone to read. These laws were called the Twelve Tables because there had twelve different sections. These laws were about crime and property and family matters like marriage and …show more content…

Purpose of Government Grade A
http://www.redrampant.com/2009/07/ancient-roman-armor.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryhistory/romans/the_roman_army/ Explanation of how it meet the common good: common defence
Only men could be in the Roman Army.
No women. Every Roman soldier was a Roman citizen. He had to be at least 20 years old. Men were not supposed to get married while he was a soldier. Most soldiers in the Roman empire came from countries outside Italy. There were Roman soldiers from Africa, France, Germany, the Balkans, Spain and the Middle East. Soldiers had to stay in the army for at least 25 years. Then they could retire, with a gift of land to farm. There were other levels/league of but soldiers legionaries were the best Roman soldiers, and the best paid. Depending on the level or how good the soldiers were ones got paid more than the others soldiers. They often settled down at an old age together, in a military town or coast. Romans had very advanced armor and were designed as years went by new styles of protection were made and mixed into the legions. It was not unusual to have the men of a legion to wear a mix of different types of armor. There was quite a lot of different types of style that could be found in each armor type. In a particular legion one soldier's mail armor may have had straight edges. His companion may have been wearing mail edged with a zig-zag cut. Still another soldier might have extra flaps of mail on the
shoulders.
Purpose of Government Support the economic system Grade C+ https://www.unrv.com/economy.php For all of the pride and dignity of Ancient Rome, the Roman economy never transformed into anything terribly complicated compared to modern savings. Ancient Rome was based on slave economy whose main concern was feeding the number of citizens and legionaries soldiers who inhabited the Mediterranean region. Most people in the Roman world were farmers. Culture and trade ruled Roman economic fates and supplemented by a small industrial production. Farmers could donate surplus crops to the government in a financial tax. This arrangement allowed both Republican and royle rulers to gain popularity with free grain distributed and helped to feed the legions at no direct effective cost. Unfortunately it also left farmers with little ways to increase their farms output. Since more crop settled to more taxes, citizens attached to these grains and the large size of trade that followed. While the production and transportation of foods kind of controlled the trading industry, there was also a enomuse trade of other goods from all parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa. The success of the Empire and many of it citizens developed a need for fancy and crazy needs. Silks from China and the Far East, cotton and spices from India, Ivory and wild animals from Africa, large amounts of mined metals from Spain and Britain, every ancient amber gems from Germany and slaves from all over the world. My overall grade for Rome is a B- , they had exellcent public services and common defence. I would say as women if I lived in Rome back then that when it came to protect rights it was very poor for us and that why I gave it a D+.
