There is a few of sound pattern in the poem. The poem is a free verse poem because almost none of the words rhyme at the end. There is almost aloft of refrain in the poem like “Nevermore/Chamber Door/Lenore.”…
Another similarity between the two poems is the use of the structure to represent the feelings of the speaker.…
First, the stories are about family in “My Papas Waltz” the poem is from the kids point of view where he wants the father the male role to be more attentive and then it switches to the mother were she is shown to be depressed and In “A Good Man is Hard to find” it’s about a family traveling on vacation who run in with a male prisoner who escapes prison and murders the family.…
Both poems use structural elements in order to portray a certain effect on the reader and to make them feel certain emotions just based on the way the poems are structured. In ‘Sister Maude’ the enjambment between each of the lines emphasises the jealousy of ‘Maude’ herself and the continuation of the jealousy she undergoes for her sisters lover. The Rhyme scheme could also symbolise the continuation of the poem as the scheme is in a ‘A,B,C,B’ formation throughout each stanza continuing the jealousy of Maude.…
In the story The Scarlet Ibis, Brother tried to teach Doodle to walk in order not to make him embarrassed. He finally succeeded. Later, he wanted more and asked doodle to learn to swim, to run and to do everything that normal kids could do. So it comes to the question: is it is the brother’s fault that caused the sad ending and do the motives matter in the end though you are doing something good?It looks conflicting in the story. Brother taught Doodle to walk with selfish motivation, but he succeeded and everyone was happy. Later, he tried to teach Doodle more with the motivation to make Doodle a normal kid .But he failed and Doodle died. The story did not give an exact answer .But it suggested that the motives do not matter so much to the result as we always regarded. There are good motivations driving us to do good things. However, the motivation from desire and interests are from human nature and are always strong. It is a respectful but…

Secondly, the poems are coherent with eachother by the language techniques used. Both poems are written in monologue form. Havisham is a dramatic monologue. This enables the reader to understand Havishams thoughts directly, as they are being spoken to the reader. Cousin Kate correlates with this as it is also a monologue, although isn 't being spoken to the reader like it is in Havisham. Instead the monologue is directed at her cousin, Kate. Another language technique that is echoed by both poems is the use of oxymorons. In Cousin Kate the narrator said she was 'lured ' to the Lords home “To lead a shameless shameful life”. This oxymoron has a sexual meaning behind it. The words ‘shameless’ and ‘shameful’ conflict making this an oxymoron. This could mean that it was shameless for her enjoyment of the sexual act and she had no shame with the Lord before they had sex, but it was in fact in real life shameful after she had sex, as she had not married the Lord. Havisham also used an oxymoron relating to her fiancee. She began her monologue with the sentence 'beloved sweetheart bastard. ' This is an oxymoron which exhibits how Havisham was in love with this man and possibly still is, but due to his actions she sees him as a 'bastard. ' This is a very strong expletive word, which shows how strong her hate for him is because he left her, but at the end of the day she still loved him, even after what he had done.…
Although these poem’s share the same style and same meaning the of the poems is vastly different.…
The thing that makes both of the poems alike is that they both serve the same purpose in explaining the lives of two different people but the common chain between the both of them is that one is young and the other is old. The both of them play off of each other in the sense that the poem about the younger generation who are rushing through their lives skipping school, staying out late shooting pool and dying before their time. While in the old one, the men are enjoying their lives and living it to the fullest knowing they are not going to live forever.…
A comparative analysis of two poems within the same poetic subgenre, showing how similar conventions may be used variously…
Firstly, the form and style of these two poems are very different. In the poem “Annabel Lee”, the poet wrote the poem in an ABABC rhyme scheme, but it is not consistent. Unlike the poem “The Highwayman”, there is no rhyming involved, but a use of word repetition is present. For example, “In the Highwayman” the poet repeats many of the same words in a stanza, such as in stanzas 5 and 6 of part one, the word moonlight is being repeated multiple times. All and all, the technique of rhyming and repetition help the reader give a better visualization of what is happening in the poems.…
Comparing the present feelings after a death in the poems ‘On my first Sonne’ by Ben Jonson and ‘Anne Hathaway’ by Duffy…
Poems can be similar, but some poems can be different. They can be similar because of the literary devices, POV's, goals, tone, etc. In this case, "Birthplace" by Taherah Saffazadeh and "Counting Small-Boned Bodies" by Robert Bly can seem different because their aim is not the same, as well as tone, but it can be further observed that they both have similar and different literary devices. For example, both poems use Imagery, but only CSBB uses Sarcasm to express his rage for the death count, and only Birthplace uses Enjambment. So both poems have their similarities and differences in literary devices which affect their stories in different ways.…
Most siblings have a lot of things in common, like face, hair style, and color skin. However, my sister and I are very different from each other. Although we were born as twins, we still differ in many ways. Once people get to know us they realize that we are very different in personalities and hobbies. I have often wondered how we ended up so different.…
