When it comes to reading the poem, you have to sort of feel it, not only that the meaning and understanding of the poem was quite hard. Like try reading this and let me know if you know the meaning of it. “ Withheld not the blow, and the savage blade sang on her head its hymn of hate. But the bold one found that the battle-flasher would bite no longer, nor harm her life. The sword-edge failed at his sorest need. Often of old with ease it had suffered the clash of battle, cleaving the helm, the fated warrior’s woven mail”. Alright, after reading that, let’s go on to the movie. I mean there aren’t really anything bad but the director of the movie has a license called poetic license. Meaning, they can take a literary work and make a movie out of it not only that, they can change the plot or the movie a bit so it wouldn’t really be like the poem. In the poem, Beowulf was a hero and a braved man but in the movie Beowulf was a flawed man. Not only that, the movie tends to show what most of the characters attention or thinking goes like. It also shows some non-pg-like scenes. But beside that, some ways of them changing the poem is like how Beowulf was supposedly to govern his home country where the Geats live, but instead he governed Hrothgar’s kingdom.
