Christianity vs. Islam Islam and Christianity are two extremely prominent religions. Though they are different in their origins and beliefs, they are indistinguishable in the way in which they spread, which defines how they are characterized today. The Islamic religion was founded by a man named Muhammad Ibn Abdullah who lived from 570-632 CE. When Muhammad was a little boy his parents died and he moved in with his uncle, he then became a shepherd. Later, he married a woman named Khadija and they had six children (Strayer 412-414). They believe God sends messengers to give guidance and revelation; Muhammad was one of these messengers. Though they do not worship Muhammad, Muslims only worship God. They do not believe Gods creations are worthy of worship (Christianity vs. Islam). Like Christianity Muslims believe you can gain forgiveness, but unlike Christianity, Muslims believe you can only gain forgiveness straight from God. Christians believe you can gain forgiveness by asking, going to confession, and talking with a priest. Muslims believe you are judged by God on your actions and how you treat others. Just like Christianity, Muslims believe people are judged by God on the good they do and you are held accountable for your actions and wrong-doings (Christianity vs. Islam). Christians and Muslims both believe in angels, demons, and spirits. Muslims also believe in genies. Christians believe all people are born with the nature of evil; this is inherited through original sin, created by Adam. Muslims do not believe everyone has evil in them. Islam). Many people were attracted to Christianity because it offered hope in the unsteady times of the Roman Empire. It offered peace to the minds and hearts of the scared people. When the Empire fell, the only stable thing people had was their faith and the church. Christianity started a change where God was above the Emperor and Rome. In the people’s eyes, instead of the emperor being the living incarnation of God on earth, the living incarnation was the Pope. From then on the Pope had supreme authority in issues such as morality.
