Zheng He or Christopher Columbus Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer that is considered to be the man who discovered the Americas. He was born somewhere between October 26 and 31, 1451, Genoa Italy and died May 20, 1506, Valladolid Spain. Due to the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans Turks in 1453, the silk road became much more dangerous and difficult to traverse which led to sailors trying to find a way to Asia by way of the sea. Columbus made four transatlantic voyages in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502 under the sponsorship of Ferdinand II, Isabella I, the Catholic Monarchs of Aragon, the Castile and Leon in Spain.
Zheng He was born into a Muslim family which meant that he could speak both Arabic and Chinese, when he was born
