Compare And Contrast David And Goliath
Like David from the bible story David & Goliath, it was thought that UCLA stood no chance against Gonzaga. Adam Morrison stood tall over UCLA’s team, and was expected to carrying his team like a giant. With only about 40 seconds left, Mark Few pulled all he had like the David did with the stones. All of the cards are on Gonzaga’s court, but UCLA’s Ryan Hollins gets fouled and this changes the expectation of what is to happen now. Hollins like a mountain sweeps the shot in the basket, and it is a beautiful sight. UCLA are sitting on the sides linking arms like chains pulling a train. The smell of victory is strong. It always comes down to the final seconds, just as it does in this thrilling game winning shot. The scoreboard only shows one second left in the game, it has been a hard fought game with both teams conversely matching each ones effort. The New Canaan Rebels are at the free-throw line with one shot left, the shot that will guarantee the win to put away the team that had blown them out in the beginning of the season. The shot was made with no time remaining, giving the New Canaan Rebels a victory. Victory for the Rebels was an unthinkable idea to everyone, except the parents, players and coaches that were a part of the underdog team that pulled off the unimaginable. All interesting authors expose their readers to experience the essence of the story. In this case, Toni Cade Bambara uses the illustration of her short story “The Lesson”, in order to convey the reality of a 1960’s ghetto, African American community through the eyes of a young girl named Sylvia. Sylvia is a young, fearless girl who has an audacious and outspoken nature despite her constant use of profanity and insulting judgments of Miss Moore. Moreover, Toni Bambara’s technique of literacy in this piece is written in a way that transport the readers to another cultural setting that is condemned by a helpless cycle of economic poverty, which Miss Moore attempts to prevent for the future generation. In addition, Toni Cade Bambara uses her colorful style of tone to express the realism and individualistic characteristic of the urban black community of the 1960s through the use of AAVE, which stands for “African American Vernacular English.” Through this unique style of writing, Toni Bambara’s goal is to challenge or even question society of its unfair economy.…

The most interesting short stories that caught my undivided attention were: “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and “Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot” by Robert Olen Butler. These stories were both fascinating and intriguing in the sense that they made me feel like if I was the actual character. You could feel the pain and anguish the characters felt, even the desperation. It got to a point that I felt pity for the protagonist whom in both stories where narrating. Here we can see how someone can feel so desperate that they think the only way out is by taking their lives. Both Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Robert Olen Butler created an incredible form of fiction that makes you question if the scenes in the stories can truly happen in reality.…

ven though there are differences between these two Gospels, they tell the same story: 16 Jesus of Nazareth died, was buried, and rose to life. The narrative expressions of both Gospels are different but they develop what was happening. In each Gospel account the core story is the same: one or more of Jesus’ female followers visit the tomb early on the Sunday morning following his crucifixion, and they find that the tomb is empty. They see a vision of either one or two angels who say that Jesus is risen. For example, in Luke the women saw two men in dazzling garments appeared to them and told them that Jesus was not there for he had been raised. However the Gospel of Matthew provided different details, like after the angel has announced to the…
