Children who are emotionally abused are usually unable to control their emotions and outbursts, and grow up to be clingy with other people looking for the emotional needs they needed as a child but weren’t given to. The short-term effects of emotional abuse leads to anxiousness, self-doubt, and passivity of a child due to fear of the current situation or the abuser. Meanwhile, repeated emotional abuse leads to lasting effects to the child’s emotional well-being. Based from the results, majority of the respondents aren’t exactly sure of the right meaning of the two ideas and are mostly mistaking emotional abuse from neglect, and vice versa which proves an that a lot of people are unaware of this issue that can happen anywhere and to anyone. In the next set of questions, the definition of the emotional abuse and neglect were given and the respondents were asked if they have experienced emotional abuse and neglect. Those who have experienced abuse and neglect, has admitted to have shaped them into what they are now. Some thought it molded them into a better and stronger person (15), and a lot thought it shaped them negatively (6), while the rest are indifferent (9). It can be concluded that emotional abuse and neglect doesn’t necessarily always result negatively to a child as quite a handful of the respondents responded that emotional abuse and neglect shaped them into a tougher.
