Fashion industry is one of the most powerful, yet misunderstood industries in the world. The way we dress is so important to the people that it creates the unstoppable, powerful force behind that complex process of design, manufacture and distribution. Fashion industry operates on three levels- haute couture, ready-to-wear and mass production. The main difference between them is quality of the product and price, but the history of the three segments is also different. We can easily say that couture begun when the first garment has been constructed, hand-sewn in the early-medieval times, but the first haute couture house was established in the Winter of 1857/58 in Paris by Charles Frederic Worth- the first couturier. The exact translation of “haute couture” is “high sewing”. Haute couture is an art of making a garment. To qualify as couture, a garment has to be made to the client´s individual measurements, almost entirely hand-made ( except for its major seams sewn together by machine) by one of the couture houses registered to the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, a body founded by Worth to regulate the craft of haute couture. Twice a year Haute Couture shows are held, where the prototypes of the collections are shown. The client then selects items and books the fittings as the garments need to be made to the client´s measurements. The couture house structure is set up on Parisian model and has to obey strict rules of the Chambre Syndicale made in 1945. Each house must employ at least 20 people in its workshops, must at least present 50-75 designs to the press during Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter seasons and also presents the collections to the potential clients in respective couture houses. The structure of the house is as follow:…

Fashion is a factor in this world, without it there simply wouldn’t be life. When one thinks of “fashion,” the first thing that probably pops into mind is clothing. Yet fashion is clothing, it is also so much more than that. Fashion is how people choose to live their lives, how people express themselves; it is the outward expression of a new idea, which is how business thrives. The business of fashion begins with one single idea; the idea can be something as random and spontaneous as, say a lampshade. With this idea, the designers, the creators of fashion clothing, will take this idea and their creative minds to design an article or collection of clothing that all relates to a lampshade. These designs must to relate to women’s and men’s life-style in today’s time in order for the trend to blossom. The designs will then be advertised at fashion shows; if the designs appeal to the public eye, then the collection of clothing will continue on further. This is where the workers of fashion marketing and merchandising take place, they will take the collection of clothing and sell it to retail stores all around the world. Finally, what makes this collection well-known, is the fashion stylists, they buy and style the particular collection to fit the everyday life-style of a particular client. This is how fashion revolves around everyday life. An individual who researches the career of a fashion stylist will see how all of this unfolds in much greater detail, along with the job description, training needed, salary, education, schooling, nature of work, and advantages and disadvantages of the career. One will be much more knowledgeable and wiser when it comes to determining a career path.…

She says, “The world changed when fashion instead of being a monologue, became a conversation, And that’s never going to stop.”(2012)…

We have chosen this theme as it is very actual nowadays. Many people ask themselves a question what is fashion and who creates it?? We used to think, that fashionable things are what we see on show-windows of an expensive shops. We forget that market doesn't create fashion, an art creates it. The fashion is a vision of the present by eyes of the artist, not important, the fashion designer he is, the musician or the writer. And if works of such artist find the response among a great variety of people if his vision of a reality coincides with what people wish to find but do not find in world around - it becomes fashionable. The fashion liberates, instead of establishes frameworks. Each of us can form fashion trends if we remember this simple rule. We should not follow what we are dictated with expensive boutiques and glossy magazines. We wish to carry what forces us to feel - ourselves. And it is not the paradox; it is an…
