Compare And Contrast Essay On Jenna Lowe
Imagine being a Freshman in high school, and making the Varsity Girls Tennis Team, already barely being able to do that, and then going to Regionals. Then placing 1st and 2nd in Regionals. That’s what Jenna and Alyssa Lowe, now Seniors at Ponderosa High School, got to accomplish. Jenna and Alyssa are twin sisters that currently attend Ponderosa High School and are avid participants on the Varsity Girls Tennis Team.
Jenna Lowe is a 17 year old senior at Ponderosa and is one of the co-captains of the Tennis Team. She started playing tennis when she was in 3rd grade, and has been an enthusiastic player ever since. She was able to do the unthinkable and made the Varsity team her Freshman year, and even got 1st in Regionals. While she is a very important player and pretty impressive at the sport, she doesn’t plan on continuing her tennis career after high school. She said in our interview, “I don’t really think I’ll continue playing tennis. I plan on going to a college in California and probably studying Criminal Justice or something like that.”

While her sister is a captain, Alyssa doesn’t really enjoy being in charge or in the spotlight, and let her sister take the job. She said in our interview, “Jenna has always been the one that would want the spotlight and wants to help improve the rest of our teammates. That’s not what I really enjoy doing, but I know she will be great!” She started playing tennis in 3rd grade at the same time Jenna did, and was also on the Varsity team Freshman year. She was also able to place 2nd in Regionals. Alyssa doesn’t want to continue playing after high school, and wants to go to a difficult school in California to go into

    Jolley Rancher Essay

Jolly Ranchers memories... Jolly Ranchers are a wonderful candy, and bring up a fond memory every time I smell that wonderful scent they give off. Back in the day, when I was in my childhood and losing my baby teeth, as everyone knows, was having a painful time of getting them out. After thinking long and hard about how I was going to solve the problem I could only think of one way. I would have to ask my father, who was a practicing dentist to remove them painfully. Just thinking of the dentist when I was young made a chill go up my spine because of all the cartoons I would watch as a child that would depicted the dentist as a horrible monster that rips and saws at your teeth. The buzzing of the drill, the bright lights shining in your eyes, the look of the dentist wearing the face mask all came to mind when I was a child which made me avoid the dentist at all costs. Since I was young, the dentist was a terrifying person so I tried to avoid the idea but knowing it would have to come back eventually. I decided a change was in order because there was no way I was going to tell my dad to take them out. I figured that the painful part was all the wiggling and pulling it out sideways; if I could find something sticky to pull it out straight, then it would be a lot easier. The solution came to me while I was sucking on a Jolly Rancher in the car. When you bite a Jolly Rancher you've just put in your mouth, it sticks to your teeth pretty good. With this method I pulled out seven teeth near painlessly compared to going to the dentist. For every tooth that came out I would place under my pillow and I would stay up all night for the tooth fairy to pay me a visit and reward me for my teeth. After the last tooth that fell out, the tooth fairy left a note under my pillow. It said, “Enough with the Jolly Ranchers because they will cause cavities in your teeth and you would have to visit the dentist.” From that day on I left my teeth to fall on out their own. That is how every…

As a freshman, I made the varsity volleyball team. With this position came a lot of responsibility and pressure. My teammates always looked at me as the “baby”, but they expected me to play at the same level as the seniors. I learned how to deal with difficult personalities and I learned how to commit myself to a team and a sport. I also learned that I was a role model to other teammates and young volleyball players. Just like the Pink Ranger, people looked up to me and I tried to lead by example throughout my volleyball career.…

Coming in to summer three months ago I had no clue where I was going to go. I went on plenty of visits to schools in which I had the opportunity to play tennis. The whole time however I felt like I was following my father's footsteps because he too played sports at the collegiate level and actually won a national championship. His accomplishments drove me to apply myself and become the best at what I did as well. I went on one visit for fun this summer, KU. After my visit I felt like I wanted to make my own path. The opportunites seemed endless here at KU. My freshman year I only did reasonably well in the classroom because I knew I had to in order to play tennis. I feel different this year; I feel more motivated to commit myself to education.…

    Jame Rachels Essay

James Rachels argues against the traditional doctrine in medicine that prohibits the physician from taking any action which would contribute to the death of a patient. Rachels takes the position that in some cases, abiding by this doctrine leads to more suffering. In the situation where continued medical support would prolong suffering, doctors have the option of discontinuing support. If, according to Rachel, they choose that option on the basis of reducing suffering then they can do better with active euthanasia. He points out the inconsistency in discontinuing medical support but not going further with active euthanasia, because he sees no moral distinction between active and passive euthanasia–they are both intentional acts to terminate a life (which is in fact murder, but more on that later). Simply letting someone die is morally the same as killing someone. When a doctor lets a patient die, the doctor is not doing nothing. In other words, contrary to how it may seem, doctors are acting by not acting. One is acting in the choice to not do anything. Rachels uses the example of a situation in which a doctor does not treat a patient of a life-threatening illness that is known to be treatable. By withholding treatment, the doctor is actually committing murder.…

Playing tennis on a team is a lot different than what people actually interpret from watching professional tennis on TV. Even though they may seem pretty complicated and intense, the rules of tennis are quite simple. Before being apart of this discourse community, I first thought tennis was just a silly game that two people played by hitting a ball back and forth with a racket, but I soon learned that this sport was much more and that it took a lot more skill. Learning how to play the game well requires a player to take in a lot of information of how tennis works and how to use your skills to your benefit.…
