It is better to be free than supposedly safe under a leader. The Holocaust, Night, and The right to the streets of memphis, show that freedom is a major role in life. And that no one wants to be in danger, while being under someone control. An individual must be able to protect themselves and the important people around them. In “Night”, Elie and his family were captured and separated. They can’t do nothing about the situation, because a leader was controlling all the jewish people. He even killed thousands of innocent jewish. Elie wasn’t able to protect himself or his love ones because he had no rights or freedom.

Another similar event that happened was the “Holocaust”. The jewish were under someone’s control
and had no freedom. They couldn’t even try to escape or protect their life or their surroundings without dying. Having freedom and their rights can save a lot of lives. They will have the capability to think and know how to be safe and do what’s right. If not they will meet the consequences of their actions. However, others say that safety is better than to be free, because individuals would have to give up some personal freedom to keep others safe. In fact, that might be true. However, if you have no rights or freedom to do what you want and protect what you love. You can lose people around you or you might die. Like in “ The rights to the streets of memphis” Richard, was free and bullied by other individuals. But he had the rights to do something about it and could defend himself from the bullies without causing so much harm.

You need freedom in order to be safe. If the individuals have no freedom or have to give up on it. Richard wouldn’t have been able to defend himself and others would take advantage of the people that can’t be protected, and a lot of lives would be lost.
