2.5 million kids between six and seven play a team sport. Many of these kids date or will date when they get into their teenage years. Unfortunately, dating comes after sports, as in First and Then. People will find that dating is similar to other events in people's lives. First and Then uses realistic teen circumstances in dating, love, and sports. Dating can be complicated in life and in fantasy. In the book First and Then, Devon thinks that Ezra is rude because he does not want to date her. (66-Emma Mills) Ezra; however, does want to date her, he just can't find the time. The dating continues throughout the book; although, Devon catches Ezra and Rachel kissing. (73-Emma Mills) Devon
was upset, and this is why dating can be complicated. Dating is referred as being complicated in the book, just like dating in real life. (Do Athletes make Better Students?) Even though dating can be hard, the love is most important to have.
Love is expressed by both Devon and Ezra. Unfortunately, Ezra made some wrong decisions. One, was he kissed Rachel, but apologized and they kissed. (144-Emma Mills) The positive side is that Devon tries to understand Ezra, and why he is so busy. (Do Athletes Make Better Students?) Love is shown everywhere in the world, from teens to your grandparents. First and Then uses love to help and hurt the characters role, but does impact sports and other activities.
Sports play a big part in time when you are a teenager. Like many, Ezra gets interviewed by Rachel for the school newspaper for football.(175-Emma Mills) Therefore, Devon really likes him because he is humble. Another sport situation is when Ezra tried to be cool in front of Devon, but it came across wrong.(180-Emma Mills) After that, Devon ends up forgiving him. Sports, love, and dating requires a good person to handle that. ( Do Athletes make Better Students)
