The Revolutionary war took 8-years but Washington stayed strong and hopeful. He was a very inspiring man and still is although he is still not alive his word of wisdom are. His word kept his soldiers strong and able to fight. 8-years of war Washington defeated the British with many allies. He made the British retreat on the Battle of lexington and concord. The British went in to cocky and were surprised by the outcome. Washington and his soldiers proved they were a force to be reckoned with. Washington’s friend Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet called comment sense. Washington would read that to his troops and it inspired them. This pamphlet kept those soldiers alive during this war. During the battle Yorktown Washington commanded over 17,000 troops of the French and Continental soldiers. During the Revolutionary war Benedict Arnold decided to betray the British. He told Washington where they would be and what time they would be there and how many they would have. He gave away all of there plans. We would probably not have won this war without Benedict. He played a huge role in the Revolutionary war. During this 8-year war we started out slow and weren’t very strong. Later on we gained many allies. This strengthen our army and let us overcome the red coats. These allies were a huge part in the war. we wouldn’t of been able to win the war without them. George Washington was the main reason why we have our Independence. His inspiration was enough to win a war. This was Exploration because he made it so we would be free men and women. We didn't have to pay taxes after that. We the people as a country were willing to face the consequences of King George III. At first we didn't want Independence and because we wanted to avoid more taxes and consequences and most of all war. Thomas Paine’s pamphlet comment sense inspired everyone why we should have Independence. It quotes
“Perhaps the sentiments contained in the following pages, are not YET sufficiently fashionable to procure them general favour; a long habit of not thinking a thing WRONG, gives it a superficial appearance of being RIGHT, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. But the tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason. As a long and violent abuse of power, is generally the Means of calling the right of it in question.” Common sense - Thomas Paine Here he is saying that the British had to much power and they were abusing it and it is not right and we do not deserve this treatment.
This pamphlet was not very big but it was very inspiring. This pamphlet showed everyone that we deserve and need Independence. Many copies of this pamphlet were sold. Thomas Paine was a great man. The reason why I put Thomas Paine in this paper is because George Washington gained us our independence and Thomas Paine basically produced it. Thomas Paine had a lot to do with independence along with George Washington. Both were very great men and taught many through their words of wisdom. They were very similar and wise just one didn't fight in war. They did have their differences. George Washington after the war he became president of the United states of America. when he was president he did not get to live in the white house. Not living in the white house isn't the only thing he did while he was in office. He knew that he had to be careful because his actions would determine what future presidents would do and he was exactly right about that. He was very smart and made right decisions of his actions he didn’t want America to …show more content…
downfall. George Washington was very wise and very smart and wanted the best for his citizens.
This is why he didn't write much in his journal because he knew people would read out of it. He considered the future for everything. He knew his actions could cause the death of America or the Birth of America and obviously he did great cause were not dead yet. We might be in debt but he made great decisions. When George Washington retired to Mount Vernon in 1796 after two terms of being president. He declined a third term he then moved to Mount Vernon with his family Martha and her kids. When he died he was put in a tomb at Mount Vernon. in 1960 it was designated a National land mark don't get it confused with Mount Rushmore. His tomb and Mount Rushmore were very different. Washington caught a cold in December 1799 . While he was inspecting his properties it was raining and his cold turned into a throat infection. He then died on the 14th of December. As I said he was buried in a tomb in Mount Vernon. When he was near death he released his slaves to be free men and women. Hundreds of schools are now named after him and also the nations capitol city. These places were named after him in honor of his great duty towards this country we were blessed to have a great leader like
